The Chicago Sky have signed veteran Skylar Diggins in free agency
One of the most decorated players in WNBA free agency is guard Skylar Diggins. The Sky made the decision to sign her to a two-year contract, per ESPN’s Alexa Philippou, but the amount has not been disclosed. This is an intriguing signing for the franchise, just a few days after trading away Angel Reese to the Atlanta Dream.
There were reports of Diggins and Chicago happening yesterday, but the two sides agreed to a deal on Saturday.he has been a decorated star in the WNBA, winning the 2014 Most Improved Player, six-time All-WNBA teams, and seven-time All-Star. Last season with the Seattle Storm, Diggins made the All-Star team and averaged 15.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game.
In the team’s press release announcing the signing, general manager Jeff Pagliocca discussed why he coveted her to the team:
“Skylar is a player we have coveted for years. We are ecstatic to bring her to Chicago. She is one of the all-time elite passers in our game and continues to play at a high level on both sides of the ball.”
It will be intriguing to see how Diggins looks in her age-35 season for the Sky in the upcoming season.
