MLB insider doesn’t hold back in bold Cubs prediction for 2026
The Chicago Cubs have quickly turned into one of the big winners of the MLB offseason.
After a slow start that had fans worried about another dud of an offseason, Jed Hoyer and the front office have turned things around. Over the last week, the Cubs have made two dynamic moves that put them in serious World Series contention status.
Hoyer started things off by acquiring starting pitcher Edward Cabrera from the Miami Marlins. He quickly followed that up with a massive five-year, $175 million contract for free agent star third baseman Alex Bregman.
Fans could not be more ecstatic to see the team finally acting like a big market organization.
With that being said, one MLB insider spoke out and didn’t hold back about Chicago. Jim Bowden made it very clear what he thinks about the Cubs following their two blockbuster moves.
“The Cubs are the team to beat right now in the NL Central,” Bowden said.
On the outside looking in, Chicago looks stacked. Offensively, the Cubs will have a chance to have one of the best lineups in baseball. As for pitching, they will also have a shot to be one of the best rotations in the league.
Now, the question remains, are there more roster moves on the horizon?
Following the deal with Bregman, there has been speculation about the future of Nico Hoerner. Matt Shaw has been talked about as a potential trade candidate as well.
If Chicago wants to remain aggressive, the front office has the chips to make something happen. More than likely, the blockbuster moves are over, but the Cubs are clearly going all-in on winning now. There is a chance that more entertainment is in store for a fan base that has been desperately waiting for it.
