The Chicago Bears are tied with the Philadelphia Eagles for second place in the NFC with 8-3 records heading into a big matchup for both teams on Friday.

Bears first-year head coach Ben Johnson has gotten his players to buy into the new program at Halas Hall. After an 0-2 start to the season, Chicago has won eight of its last eight games and is riding a four-game winning streak before traveling to Philadelphia.

Per Stacey Dales of the NFL Network, Johnson’s quick turnaround of the Bears has the league on “alert” before December.

“The Bears are 8-3, and they’re very, very, very highly regarded around the league right now, I’m going to tell you the conversations I’m having, like, Ben has the league on alert, and it’s palpable around the NFL,” Dales said on 670 The Score on Wednesday.

Caleb Williams still needs to improve

While Johnson is getting kudos from the league for his coaching, there are still some minor concerns with the development of Caleb Williams.

“The Bears are doing exactly what Ben Johnson is asking them to do,” Dales said. It starts with Caleb offensively. He’s handing the ball off. He’s executing the offense. The accuracy. Is it there?

“I mean, he’s 59 percent completion percentage and, it’s not been great, but he’s doing what Ben is asking him to do. He’s taking the coaching.”

Williams and the Bears will have a chance to earn a signature win when they take on the Eagles on Friday. It won’t be easy for Chicago to earn a win on the road against a defending Super Bowl champion that suffered a frustrating 21-point collapse on Sunday.

Dales suggested that the Eagles “respect” the Bears before Friday’s game. Chicago has a chance to elevate its status by winning the contest.
