Chicago Bears get two A grades in 2024 draft regrade
The Chicago Bears have set themselves up for long-term success with not only the coaching staff but the players as well. Just 11 games into head coach Ben Johnson’s first season as head coach, the Bears are 8-3 and on their second four-game win streak of the season.

Johnson has revitalized the Bears’ offense completely, turning them into a top ten offense in the NFL for the first time in a very, very long time. One of the biggest reasons the team has succeeded on offense is also due to many players stepping up and improving.
One of the biggest reasons Johnson came to Chicago was the playmakers that were already on the team. This includes Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze, who were drafted the season prior. Under Ben Johnson, the Bears’ first-round picks from 2024 have improved in massive ways.
CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilison has now given the Bears two A grades for last year’s selections of Williams and Odunze.

Wilson mentioned that if the 2024 draft were to be redone, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye would be selected over Williams, in his opinion. However, he went on to praise Williams for “continuing to grow into Ben Johnson’s offense”.
Despite it not being perfect, Williams has taken control of the game when needed to. Williams now has an NFL lead of five game-winning drives. The Bears’ starting quarterback has shown many flashes of greatness with his escapability and his ability to make Superman-like plays when needed the most. However, there are still plenty he needs to improve on. With Johnson’s coaching, it seems the sky is still the limit for Williams.
Odunze has turned himself into a WR1 on the Bears. Despite missing some crucial catches in recent weeks, the second-year receiver has become a threat to opposing defenses.
Wilson mentioned that Odunze leads all first and second-year WRs in explosive plays at 20 and tied for first in touchdown receptions at six. Odunze leads the Bears’ receiving core in receptions, targets, and touchdowns as well.
Without question, the Bears have their QB and WR duo for a very long time.
