Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham

Sophie Cunningham has been ramping up her recovery since her season was cut short last year. The Indiana Fever star suffered a torn right MCL, which limited her to only 30 games last season.

Despite that, the seven-year veteran became a key piece of the Fever as the team’s enforcer. Cunningham also provided reliable shooting for Indiana. She shot career highs of 46.9% from the field and 43.2% from three.

Cunningham is currently an unrestricted free agent. Indiana fans are hoping to have her back next season. The Fever and the 29-year-old guard have shown interest in agreeing on a new deal. However, nothing is official just yet.

Sophie Cunningham shares unexpected encounter during run

Cunningham made an immediate impact after arriving in Indiana. The Former Missouri Tigers star averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1 block last season.

The 6-foot-1 guard was a big factor in the Fever’s franchise-best 24-win season. She also helped lead Indiana to it’s first-ever WNBA Commissioner’s Cup title.

While her return to Indiana is still looming, Cunningham is working hard to make sure that she’s in top shape. On Thursday, she shared a video of herself running on the road as an unexpected guest showed up

In Cunningham’s Instagram story, she showed that she was just finishing her five-mile run when a random cow suddenly made a cameo.

“I know this isn’t your typical running view, but that cow right there is about to charge me,” she said. “That’s what you get when you get to run right here. You get to hang with cows.”

Cunningham is currently back home in Columbia, Missouri. However, she will need to leave home soon enough as the new WNBA season approaches. Fever fans are hoping that she chooses to return to Indianapolis.
