These Likely Undrafted Terps Profile as Future Ravens

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The Ravens don’t draft many players out of the University of Maryland, but they have signed four Terps as undrafted rookies in the last two years. That list includes Beau Brade, who made the 53-man roster in 2024.

This year, a number of Terrapins who are projected to go undrafted could draw interest from the Ravens as priority signings to develop in Baltimore.

Chief among them is linebacker Ruben Hyppolite, who impressed during testing at Maryland’s Pro Day.

Which Terps Could be Ravens? A Report from Maryland’s Pro Day

He was mobbed by his teammates after a blazing 40-yard dash that was initially clocked in the 4.3s before official timing put it at 4.42 seconds. That time would’ve been the fastest by any off-ball linebacker at this year’s Combine.

Hyppolite was expecting to run a fast 40 after training in South Florida, where he grew up with Zay Flowers. Flowers attended Maryland’s Pro Day to support Hyppolite, who said that the Ravens wideout is “like a big brother” to him. Hyppolite credited his Broward County upbringing for a competitive streak that shows up on his game tape.

The four-year starter and 2023 team captain has watched Maryland’s program grow into a more reliable NFL pipeline than it was before Mike Locksley arrived. Hyppolite said that the program has “skyrocketed” with him and several other players spending the last four years in College Park.

“We wanted to start something,” said Hyppolite. “We left this place better than when we came in.”

There are shades of Patrick Queen in Hyppolite’s build, athleticism, and play style. Obviously, Queen was a significantly better prospect in many ways, but both are excellent athletes who love to explode downhill against the run.

Hyppolite struggles to fight through blocks or hang with tight ends at the catch point, but he has smooth drops in zone coverage and effectively mirrors RBs coming out of the backfield. He doesn’t have the size or strength to stick with NFL tight ends, and his multiple drops at his Pro Day indicate he still needs to develop as a coverage backer.

Hyppolite will need to improve his play strength to earn a roster spot, but Baltimore could be a good training ground to develop his special teams play, which will be crucial to his NFL career. At his Pro Day, he said he had visits lined up with at least five teams, including the Bears and the Patriots. His 40 time may have turned some heads, but he’s still expected to go undrafted.

As a potential UDFA signing, Glendon Miller might be a better fit and value for the Ravens than fellow Maryland safety Dante Trader, who is expected to be selected on Day 3. Miller tested much better than his Terrapin teammate at his Pro Day and showed off his solid ball skills (7 INTs since 2023) during positional drills.

Miller has a size/speed combination that could help him carve out a special teams role, and coaches raved about his development on and off the field in College Park. He showcased his versatility in 2024, but he’s still more of a downhill playmaker than the true deep safety that the Ravens need. He would likely need to compete with Sanoussi Kane and former teammate Brade in Baltimore, which may encourage him to look for a clearer path to a 53-man roster spot elsewhere.

Senior DL Tommy Akingbesote is another potential UDFA target for a Ravens defense that needs young defensive line depth. “Solid but unspectacular” is the best way to describe his size, athleticism, and overall ability, and it’s fair to wonder about his ceiling in the NFL.

However, Akingbesote’s length and motor establish a decent floor as a run-stopper who will need to improve his technique (especially as a pass-rusher) to earn a starting job in the future. Baltimore might be the best place for that refinement, as the Ravens have a strong history of developing defensive linemen.

The Terps also had two offensive linemen at their Pro Day: Josh Kaltenberger and Isaac Bunyun. Both face uphill paths to an NFL roster.

Kaltenberger started at center in 2024 and had an excellent broad jump (9 feet, 5 inches), but his lack of athleticism will be severely limiting in the NFL.

I’m more intrigued by Bunyun, who played defensive line for three years before starting all 12 games at left guard in 2024. That speaks volumes about his physical abilities, though significant technique and mental development will be required to even earn a depth spot on an NFL OL.

Athletically, there’s plenty to work with, especially his power and explosiveness. It would take a year or two on the practice squad before Bunyun can seriously contend for a roster spot, but Baltimore has shown a willingness to sign and develop undrafted positional converts in recent years.
