Toyota Rebrands bZ4X, Adds Range, Updates for 2026
Toyota has unveiled the 2026 model of its all-electric SUV, now rebranded from the bZ4X to simply the Toyota bZ. This update brings significant enhancements in range, charging capabilities, performance, and design.
Extended Range & Battery Options
- A new 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery is available on the XLE FWD Plus, XLE AWD, and Limited trims, offering a manufacturer-estimated range of up to 314 miles on a full charge.
- The base XLE FWD model comes with a 57.7-kWh battery, providing an estimated 236 miles of range.
Improved Charging & Connectivity
- The 2026 bZ adopts the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, granting access to Tesla’s Supercharger network.
- It supports DC fast charging, capable of charging from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes under ideal conditions.
- New Plug & Charge functionality allows for seamless charging and billing at compatible stations without the need for additional apps or cards.
Enhanced Performance
- All-wheel-drive models now deliver 338 horsepower, a 50% increase over the previous version, enabling acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds.
- This performance boost is achieved through the use of silicon carbide semiconductors in the electric motors.
Refined Design & Interior
The exterior features a cleaner look with body-colored panels replacing the previous black wheel arches.
- Inside, the bZ boasts a new center console, a slimmer instrument panel, and a larger 14-inch multimedia touchscreen.
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard, enhancing connectivity.
The 2026 Toyota bZ is built on the E-TNGA platform and is part of Toyota’s ongoing investment in electrification, including a $1.3 billion upgrade to its Kentucky manufacturing facility for expanded EV production.
