At least 20 people were killed and 50 others were injured in a car bomb attack on a bank in southern Afghanistan on Thursday. Many of the casualties were policemen and soldiers waiting to receive their pay in Lashkar Gah, the capital of restive Helmand province. Bank staff and other civilians were among the casualties as well.
