DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. June 1, 2017, 7:17 AM (IDT)

With a deadline for a decision looming on June 1, President Donald Trump is likely to continue his predecessors’ policy of signing a six-month waiver overriding a 1995 law requiring that the embassy be transferred to Jerusalem. This is reported by US diplomatic sources. He is expected to reiterate that he stands by his pre-election pledge for the transfer, but note that its execution at this time would impede his administration’s peace efforts.
Since Congress passed the Jerusalem Embassy Act in 1995 mandating the embassy’s relocation to Jerusalem, all US presidents have waived the requirement on the grounds of US national security interests..

Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
