Put not our trust in princes (or anyone else in power)

There seems to be a constant drumbeat from The Donald verbally attacking various and sundry GOP types who do not consistently support his policies. And with his usual flare, he exaggerates and combines ad hominem attacks in doing so. The man has a tongue on him, and always has. He is also no more to be trusted than any other “prince” or ruler, in either government or business.

Right now, it is Thomas Massie and Marjorie Taylor Greene bearing the Stateside burden of those attacks. Of course, the targets Trump enjoys and frequently hammers outside the US are even more numerous: Canada, the EU, the UK, Iran, among others.

Trump knows why. And the Lord. No one else. Good or bad, disingenuous or sincere, Donald J Trump is… Donald J Trump.

A trusted correspondent shared this: “I saw a lady arguing that Massie’votes with Democrats 99% of the time.’ Grok, the Twitter/X AI, was called upon to adjudicate this claim, which of course is false. In fact, I hadn’t known this myself: Massie voted with Biden less often than anyone else in the entire House of Representatives: just 1.8 percent of the time.”

Another fairly well-trusted correspondent pointed out that Massie voted against Trump in the past year+ a total of 9 percent of the time. But those included Massie voting for the full release of the Epstein files, and voting against the Big Beautiful Bill. Which naturally ramped up Trump. But Massie did so for the same reasons that Ron and Rand Paul did: deficits, constitutionality, etc. We are not saying that Massie is really that much better than any other congress-crittur, but that certainly beats the Woke squad and darlings of both the left and the right.

Our first correspondent continued: “After that, I came across a post by Dana Loesch, claiming that Marjorie Taylor Greene got rich while in office, presumably by disreputable means: ‘I think it’s funny how you accuse everyone *else* of taking money but never explain how your personal net worth exploded specifically while you were in Congress.’ But her personal net worth, which is traceable to her ownership in a construction company, did not “explode” while she was in Congress, and her financial history has been an open matter of public record.”

We note that it is the lies that stick, especially for people with loyalty to an individual (such as The Donald) or a Woke political philosophy. To make matters worse, these two (supposedly) diametrically opposed groups are allied to blacken and cancel people who are even a wee bit more advocates for liberty.

We also suggest that The Donald is doing exactly the same thing as virtually every other politician: demanding personal loyalty over sticking to principle.

And he very well be ignoring the biblical advise of the author of Proverbs, in the headline.

It is not just us peons (middle or lower class, out of government, etc.) that should listen to the advice on whom to trust. Even the most powerful and secure of human rulers, princes, leaders, etc. need to remember that they cannot trust other rulers, etc. Even those less powerful than they are. We should remember that far more kings, presidents, etc. have been betrayed and overthrown by other powerful people than ever deposed by true grassroots actions. And not just external to their jurisdiction.

Do not trust anyone in power, even if you think they have less power than you do!
