Fever coach Stephanie White speaks out on disappointment at Indy 500
Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White took some time away from basketball over the weekend amid the grind of the new WNBA season.
The Fever had just completed a four-game home stand, which required them to play four times in eight days. After losing the first of four matchups, Indiana went on to win three in a row. White and Co. are now 4-2 early in the season.
White took some time off on Sunday to join Caitlin Clark and Lexie Hull at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Indy 500 NASCAR race. The 48-year-old attended the major sporting event with her son, who is a big racing fan.

Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White addresses disappointing Indy 500 result
White was back on the court on Monday for team practice. She spoke to reporters during her usual media availability session, where she was asked about her trip to the races over the weekend.
“It was great,” said the veteran coach. “I mean, the experience was amazing. What a finish. You know, I was a little worried we were going to finish on a yellow (caution flag), but it was a lot of fun.
“It’s much more fun to be there in person, so I was glad to experience that. And certainly glad to experience that with my son.”
White revealed that her son is a big fan of Alexander Rossi, who was unable to finish Sunday’s race. The 34-year-old had to be lifted out of his car after it caught fire in Lap 93. White addressed her son’s disappointment during the race, but emphasized that it was still an unforgettable experience for the kid.
“Not great. He was very disappointed,” White said of her son. “But at the same time, I don’t think there was one second where he didn’t have a smile on his face.
“And so, as a parent, to see something for the first time through the eyes of your child is really rewarding. And so, I was just thankful and grateful to have that experience with him.”
White is now back at work after an eventful weekend. Indiana’s preparations for its next game are in full swing. They will be on the road on Thursday for a matchup against the Golden State Valkyries at Chase Center.
