OTL: NFL Says They Got Interception Overturn Wrong in Ravens-Steelers
With the week of the 2026 NFL Combine here, Ravens fans knew there’d be a flurry of news as members of the Baltimore staff met with the media. To kick off the week, however, much of that was disheartening:
Ian Rapoport on the Ravens negotiations with pending free agent Tyler Linderbaum:
“They have tried to negotiate with him. His agent is very difficult to negotiate with. Neil Cornrich is the agent and his method is basically not responding”

There is some “ambiguity” about whether the Ravens can get a contract extension done with QB Lamar Jackson, per @TheAthletic. pic.twitter.com/Wqvph1EVxp

Ravens TE Isaiah Likely is not expected to return to Baltimore, per @TheAthletic.

On Tuesday, however, much of that outlook changed. Both GM Eric DeCosta and HC Jesse Minter met with the media, providing insight – although it may well be coach speak – on a number of hot-button topics.
In order of priority, it was yet again confirmed that the relationship with franchise QB Lamar Jackson is well and good:
“Lamar has been very engaged.”
Lol, for all the trade talks. It sure does sound like a guy who will be in Bal.
I’ll be waiting on the extension news any day now! pic.twitter.com/APRLW92w28

That said, DeCosta’s outlook on Jackson’s extension and OTA participation may be different than that of the fan base:
Eric DeCosta on Lamar Jackson’s future OTA participation:
“Those are voluntary. Lamar’s a two-time MVP. I think he knows what it takes to get ready for the grind of the NFL season. He’s proven he can do it at a very, very high level and I have no preference.”

As we well know, though, new OC Declan Doyle’s offense is a mystery that we hope aligns with Jackson’s skillset and takes his performance to another level. With that in mind, we heard some nuggets about the vision this staff shares:
Jesse Minter talked about building an offense for Lamar Jackson that “takes advantage of his skillset but also has plays off of plays off of plays that’s a very systematic approach. That we can take pressure off him in the run game by handing the ball off to Derrick Henry.” https://t.co/GyVsaw3yXJ
— Jamison Hensley (@jamisonhensley) February 24, 2026
Jesse Minter on Lamar Jackson:
“I don’t know that he needs to run more. I actually think there’s times where he can run less if you build an offense that takes advantage of the under center, the downhill run game. Now that opens up a lot of boots and play actions. … I think… pic.twitter.com/4V3CqqaW1Z

New Ravens OL coach Dwayne Ledford majored in outside zone at Atlanta, but Jesse Minter said the Ravens’ run game would be driven by their personnel.
He expects to have a diverse run game in 2026.

It’s exciting to both hear and see the confidence level that DeCosta and Minter share, but alongside Jackon’s extension lies the pending decisions of C Tyler Linderbaum and TE Isaiah Likely. There’s little doubt that Jackson will be eager for both to re-sign, but again, there were a few updates provided on Tuesday:
“I think @TLinderbaum’s the best center in the League.” HC Minter pic.twitter.com/TyiH8HM5KI
— Baltimore Ravens (@Ravens) February 24, 2026
Eric DeCosta on Tyler Linderbaum:
“Tyler’s a guy I have tremendous respect for. Obviously, he’s proven to be, in my opinion, the best center in the league. We’ve been having conversations. We’ve had conversations since the end of the season. At this point in time, we’ve made… pic.twitter.com/CwVo00Tecr

#Ravens GM Eric DeCosta said that the team would still like to re-sign Isaiah Likely. pic.twitter.com/ZdR9YZy3cv

While I have my doubts about whether Baltimore can afford to bring both players back while filling other gaps, Jackson did indicate he hopes to see Likely return to Charm City:
Don’t tell Lamar to sign the extension so that EDC can build the team. Tell EDC to prove that the savings we get from Lamar signing the extension will actually go into the *Expletive* offense for once and not into a third Safety and second ILB #RavensFlock https://t.co/iscWXjdUrU

Shocker, right?
Interestingly, Tuesday brought more news that quasi-involved Likely, as the NFL officially stated that referees got things wrong in the Ravens’ home loss to Pittsburgh in Week 14.

So the NFL is now admitting they robbed us of a touchdown AND an interception in the same game. Nice! https://t.co/opxZA7HySr

I have two thoughts on this. First, even though Steve Bisciotti indicated a playoff appearance wouldn’t have necessarily mattered, it’s quite a thought experiment to consider what would have happened if Baltimore had won this game. For one, they likely win the AFC North and host a home playoff game. Second, plainly, the NFL has to do something about this:
ð—§ð—¥ð—˜ð—¡ð——ð—œð—¡ð—š: Kyle Van Noy calls out the NFL after they admitted months later they made the wrong call on Isaiah Likely’s catch that should’ve been a touchdown, but was ruled incomplete. He also calls out multiple other calls the league got wrong.

Calls will continue to be missed, and that’s fine. But until there’s some sort of accountability system, all of it’s just hot air from the NFL as always.
I propose a relegation system: The 3 refs with the most missed calls have to go back down to college football. https://t.co/mipWU5JsAJ
— Jake Louque (@jakelouque) February 24, 2026
One note: Per Pro Football Talk, the NFL says the Likely catch was NOT one of the wrong ones Troy Vincent was discussing.
UPDATE 8:39 a.m. ET: An NFL spokesman clarified with PFT that while the Likely play was discussed in detail, it was not one of the handful that Vincent was referring to that the league would like to have back.
Another call later in the game, however…
UPDATE: 11:34 a.m. ET: The NFL has confirmed that Vincent did acknowledge another play in that Steelers-Ravens game, an interception thrown by Aaron Rodgers, was ruled correctly on the field and should not have been overturned on replay.
Remember, the league had already admitted they made an incorrect personal foul call on a Steelers field goal that resulted in Pittsburgh’s drive continuing for a touchdown.
No use crying over spilled milk I suppose, but…come ON.
Either way, Baltimore has a number of issues as it looks ahead on the defensive side of the ball. One of the offseason’s biggest dominoes will be the health of DT Nnamdi Madubuike, about which there was no update:
No update on Nnamdi Madubuike from Eric DeCosta.
“If we have the chance to draft a great defensive tackle, of course we will.”
— Jonas Shaffer (@jonas_shaffer) February 24, 2026
Jesse Minter on uncertainty of Nnamdi Madubuike’s future: “No. 1, it’s the players’ health and long-term longevity at the forefront of anything. And so we will have multiple plans in place. He’s in a great frame of mind right now. So just excited to see how it all shakes out.”
— Jamison Hensley (@jamisonhensley) February 24, 2026
Ravens coach Jesse Minter said Pro Bowl DT Nnamdi Madubuike was at the team facility recently but declined to discuss his future.
Minter: “That will be up to him when the time is right. Henson great spirits.”

EDC still has no updates on Nnamdi Madubuike. This remains an interesting situation. #RavensFlock
— Carita Parks (@CaritaCParks) February 24, 2026
There were updates on Marlon Humphrey and Roquan Smith, though, who EDC stated are likely to return next season, with no ongoing talks around contract statuses:
Between salary & a $4M roster bonus (due 3/15), Humphrey is due $19.25M in cash in 2026. Never say never, but I’d be shocked if he gets that in 2026. I don’t doubt they plan to keep him, but this tells me that EDC is confident they will work out some sort of modified deal. https://t.co/5OuVqH46w8
— Brian McFarland (@RavensSalaryCap) February 24, 2026
Eric DeCosta said he has not had any discussions with Roquan Smith regarding a contract adjustment. pic.twitter.com/u9YP3KV6zr
— SleeperRavens (@SleeperRavenss) February 24, 2026
Personally, I feel both should return (though the cap hit is a different story). We’ve talked so much about how defensive players could take a leap under Minter’s tutelage, so why can’t Humphrey and Smith? As Dev Panchwagh notes, Humphrey still has value in the slot, and if younger CBs emerge, why can’t Baltimore fit him in?
I would imagine this is optimism for agreeing on a pay cut or restructure. Which btw would also mean gaining more cap space.
I personally think Marlo would fit well in Minter’s scheme. A lot of post-snap disguise & blitz requirements. Would be better in the slot though. #Ravens https://t.co/0F2OJjtXXp
— Dev Panchwagh (@devpanchwagh) February 24, 2026
TJ Tampa really, really fits what Minter likes to do.
Physical and smart, Tampa was a better prospect than the guys Minter had balling for him last year to the tune of only 16 TDs allowed and 19 INTs. https://t.co/lXe7hT0uet
— Huddle It Up Films (@HuddleItUpFilms) February 24, 2026
Time will tell, but there’s plenty of reason to be excited about the future of the Ravens franchise, even with some major decisions looming. Onward!
Jesse Minter’s message to #RavensFlock
“We want the Ravens fans to have the highest expectations possible, which is to win the last game of the year. We want to internally create standards and operating procedures that allow us day by day to chase that. … We’re gonna play… pic.twitter.com/7NhpsrobEg
