Chicago Bears: former head coach Matt Nagy accepts job with John Harbaugh and New York Giants
The Chicago Bears seem to have finally found a head coach that can lead them into an era of consistent competitiveness, something they have not had for decades. Ben Johnson, in his first year as head coach, led one of the most impressive turnarounds in the NFL. After taking over a Bears team that went 5-12 in 2024, Johnson led Chicago to an 11-6 record in 2025.
The Bears won the NFC North, were the second seed in the NFC, and knocked the Green Bay Packers out of the NFL Playoffs.
Meanwhile, his predecessors have left their 2025 NFL jobs. One of them, though, just landed his next gig.
Former Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy has been hired by the New York Giants
Matt Eberflus was fired midway through the 2024 NFL season by Chicago. He was also recently fired as the defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys. He is still looking for his next NFL job.
Matt Nagy, however, did not sign a contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs. Now he is being hired as the new offensive coordinator of the New York Giants:

After being let go by the Bears following the 2021 NFL season, Nagy was hired by the Kansas City Chiefs as a senior offensive assistant in 2022. In 2023, the Chiefs promoted him to offensive coordinator, and won two Super Bowl titles during that time.
Of course, he had also been the offensive coordinator of the Chiefs prior to coming to Chicago in the first place. He served in that role from 2016-2017.
As a result of Nagy leaving Kansas City this off-season, the Chiefs decided to replace him with Bears running backs coach Eric Bieniemy. Prior to joining Johnson in Chicago, Bieniemy had worked with Kansas City from 2013-2022.
