OTL: Kyle Hamilton Gets His Flowers
After a tough 27-19 victory in Minnesota, Baltimore’s resurgence is in full effect and people are starting to take notice:
.@Chris_Broussard is bringing out THE BOX after the Ravens win…..
But he’s STILL not ready for his robe. pic.twitter.com/2qkn8UtthT

The Baltimore Ravens keep winning and the Pittsburgh Steelers keep losing.
First place in the AFC North is attainable for Baltimore as 5 of their last 8 games come against division foes.

Obviously, getting healthy has paid dividends, especially as it relates to the QB position. Before getting to some of the more nuanced factors behind the turnaround, we have to highlight Lamar Jackson. As pundits and others have noted, Sunday wasn’t Jackson’s best performance. Even still, he was good enough to (relatively) comfortably pull out a win:
Considering the Ravens struggled to establish the run and the Vikings built their entire defensive game plan around relentless pressure, this was a masterful performance by Lamar Jackson. https://t.co/SWRF7swB1l
— Chris Cooper (@ChrisCooper_NFL) November 11, 2025
This was a tough, hard-nosed road game that – as Chris Cooper noted – had a ton of pressure behind it. At the end of the day, a win is a win.
So, how else have the Ravens been able to right the ship?
Without further ado… Kyle Hamilton.
It’s the best broken record possible, but Hamilton truly has revitalized DC Zach Orr’s unit yet again. With that in mind, what do you think about Kevin Eck’s and Cordell Woodland’s assertion that he’s as important to the defense as Jackson is to the offense?
“@kyledhamilton_‘s reaching Lamar Jackson territory for his importance to the defense.” https://t.co/Nla9he9AZz
— Baltimore Ravens (@Ravens) November 11, 2025
Imma be honest, it’s hard to compare safety impact to QB impact but Kyle Hamilton is about as important as a player gets to a defense. If he’s off the field, you notice. https://t.co/Wb3HsS6Yb4
— RAMEY (@HoodieRamey) November 11, 2025
While I’d have to agree with Ramey in saying that nothing in sports compares to the importance of the QB position, I can’t remember an NFL player ever being closer than Hamilton. He’s consistently been a Swiss army knife for Baltimore, offering elite play in a variety of roles over the years. This year, in particular, he’s singlehandedly made an unconscionably bad unit (Baltimore’s pass rush) look solid.
As Doug Farrar notes below, the versatility he provides without sacrificing quality is unheard of:
New All-22 on @AthlonSports: For the second straight season, the @Ravens have asked Kyle Hamilton to turn their defense around with a major position change… and it keeps working. This is why Hamilton is the NFL’s most valuable defender. https://t.co/Xg7aigmtON pic.twitter.com/ZUTwyAwYXW

Funny enough, RSR’s Dev Panchwagh recently outlined his own thoughts on Hamilton’s impact here:
Similarly, while I doubt he will end up with the award, Vasilis Fiamata and I agree that he deserves more recognition:
Kyle Hamilton still deserves more appreciation. Perhaps the greatest force multiplier on defense in the NFL
— Vasilis (@VasilisFiamata) November 10, 2025
And while we’re on the topic, how about some continued recognition for S Alohi Gilman? None of this would be possible (or successful) without the acquisition of the Safety, who has fit like a glove since arriving.

Next, the emergence of CJ Okoye has helped solidify a D-Line unit that looked doomed just a few weeks back. With fans clamoring for a DT addition at the deadline, could EDC and company have been forecasting a breakout for the former UDFA?
Cole Jackson breaks down what Okoye’s doing right here:
One of the more requested film breakdowns was CJ Okoye.
He played 17 snaps. I was able to clip over half of them because he was that impressive.
Incredible story and now we’re seeing his grind pay off.

While he’s done the job as a body to plug the middle, he has offered a bit in the pass rush, which is third reason for Baltimore’s recent success. It’s not making waves around the league, but it is creating pressure at a higher rate. With Dre’Mont Jones looking sharp and Mike Green continuing to develop, the group finally looked like one that could cause consistent problems:

A TON of edge rushers make their money off of one or two go go moves in the nfl
But the truly elite ones, have an arsenal of moves. By far Mike greens best game, and look at the different moves he utilizes

On the topic of Mike Green, the Ravens rookie class has also started to stand out. Green, Malaki Starks, and Teddye Buchanan have shined in recent weeks, helping to fill some gaps fans thought were major question marks:
It’s a bit early to tell, but it seems the Ravens nailed a strong draft this year. While we may not match the 2018 draft anytime soon, we have something special. Buchanan, Green and Starks are already showing sparks. Peebles has potential, and Loop and Wester are doing well too.

#Ravens rookies balled out yesterday
Starks, Green, Teddye looked really solid.
Start Emery Jones, activate Peebles and let’s get cooking #RavensFlock

I’m glad Cole Jackson called out Emory Jones, as Guard is the one remaining position I feel could be Baltimore’s downfall:
Watch Daniel Faalele on this play! 77 from the Baltimore Ravens! Lamar Jackson takes a vicious sack cuz of poor blocking! His worst performance ever! #RavensFlock #Baltimore @CoachEvans9 @IngravenVids @NewEraZach @Nitro_Quantum @Therego_Deee @SheTalksFootbal @sgellison pic.twitter.com/slyvGvvkO0

Baltimore has a date with Myles Garrett coming this week – If there’s ever a time to get the position sorted, it’s now!
Myles Garrett leads the NFL in sacks, with 11. The Baltimore Ravens will face the Cleveland Browns this week. May God have mercy on Lamar Jackson’s soul, because that offensive line won’t.
