Fun, Failure, Frustration, & Fame: Week 11

FUN

This is my reminder that fantasy football should be fun.  It is also fair warning that I only play (and write about) fantasy football for fun.  I have never done a paid league, and I would not suggest you use my thoughts in a betting situation.  I am NOT an expert, and I play for fun.

FAILURE

Part One:  My Failures

WR D.K. Metcalf

I predicted D.K. Metcalf would bounce back.  He had another poor performance (as did the entire Pittsburgh Steelers offense).  Metcalf caught only 3 passes on 7 targets for 35 yards.

RB Alvin Kamara

I predicted Alvin Kamara would continue his downward trend, but he had a nice game on Sunday.  He finished with 83 yards on 22 carries and added 3 receptions for 32 yards. Maybe the quarterback change can get Kamara back on track for the fantasy stretch.

QB Jordan Love

I predicted that Jordan Love would bounce back, and I was wrong!  Love was 20 of 36 passing for 176 yards and no touchdowns and added only 5 rushes for 28 yards.

Part Two:  This Week’s Player “Failures”

QB Aaron Rodgers

I love putting this “failure” on here.  Aaron Rodgers finished 16 of 31 for 161 yards, 1 TD, and 2 interceptions!  As much as I’d love for this to continue, I think he will rebound.

Verdict:  FLUKE

QB Bo Nix

Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos offense struggled again.  They pulled out the win, but it was ugly.  Nix finished 16 of 28 passing for 150 yards, 1 TD, and 2 interceptions.  He will have some better games, but the offense has shown enough that it can’t be trusted.  I don’t like his chances to put up big numbers, especially next week when they face the Kansas City Chiefs.

Verdict:  TREND

QB Jordan Love

See stats above.  Love had another rough game, but I think he will bounce back next week vs. the New York Giants.

Verdict:  FLUKE

WR Keenan Allen

For the 3rd straight week, Keenan Allen had less than 9 fantasy points in PPR format.  Sunday, he finished with 2 receptions on 5 targets for 19 yards.  It appears that fellow WRs Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston are ahead of him in the Chargers WR room.

Verdict:  TREND

WR D.K. Metcalf

See stats above.  I wish this trend would continue and I am very happy to see him on this list for a 2nd straight week, but I don’t think it will, especially next week when the Steelers face the pathetic Cincinnati Bengals defense.

Verdict:  FLUKE

TE Brock Bowers

After a HUGE game in Week 9 after returning from injury, Brock Bowers had a disappointing game in Week 10, with just one reception on three targets for 31 yards and a single rush for -4 yards.  The Broncos defense is legitimate.  He is one of very few playmakers on this Raiders offense, so I expect him to respond with much bigger numbers.

Verdict:  FLUKE

FRUSTRATION

QB Jaxson Dart injury

Jaxson Dart is a fun player to watch.  With his style of play, it’s probably not surprising that he was forced out of the game with a concussion, but it still sucks to see.

WR Garrett Wilson injury

Garrett Wilson returned, but re-injured the same knee that kept him out the two previous games.  We’ll have to see how long it will sideline him.

FAME

Part One:  What I Got Right Last Week

WR Rome Odunze

I predicted Rome Odunze would bounce back, and he did just that, with six catches for 86 yards and a touchdown.

RB Jonathan Taylor

OK, this one was easy.  Jonathan Taylor bounced back as expected.  He finished Sunday’s game in Berlin, Germany with 32 rushes for 244 yards and 3 touchdowns and added 3 receptions for 42 yards! This was a 50+ point game in most formats. Not many teams with Taylor lost this week.

RB Jahmyr Gibbs

Another easy one to predict. Star RB Jahmyr Gibbs rebounded as expected with another spectacular game.  Gibbs finished with 142 yards rushing and 2 TDs on 15 carries.  He added 3 receptions for 30 yards and 1 receiving TD.

WR Parker Washington

I suggested Parker Washington as a waiver pickup and he delivered, with three receptions for 33 yards and a receiving TD.  He added a return TD to give him a very nice fantasy game!

Part Two:  Who I Like on the Waiver Wire

TE Dalton Schultz

He is rostered in only 34% of Yahoo leagues, and has 11 or more fantasy points in PPR format in five of his last six games.

WR Jerry Jeudy

If your desperate for a WR, Jerry Jeudy is worth a shot.  In offensive coordinator Tommy Rees’ first game calling the offensive plays in Week 10, Jeudy saw a major uptick in targets, with six receptions on 12 targets for 78 yards and 1 TD.

TE Cade Otton

He is rostered in 42% of Yahoo leagues. With 8 or more fantasy points in PPR format in four of his last five games, he could be worth a pickup.
