Best Player Prop Bets for Ravens-Texans

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

It’s been the Ravens’ historically good offense that has been the catalyst for the success we’ve seen with these props over the last year and some change. Unfortunately, it may now have to be the Ravens historically bad defense we profit off. The hope is that the defense can turn it around, but through four weeks, we haven’t seen any signs of such turnaround. That leaves us no choice but to sprinkle in some opposing teams’ props for the foreseeable future. On the other side of the ball, Cooper Rush should be able to move down the field with the weapons he has at his disposal, so there certainly is some money to be won in this Week 5 matchup.

In a must win game for both teams, here are the props I’ll be taking as the Ravens take on the Texans in Baltimore.

Zay Flowers O 4.5 Receptions (-112 FanDuel)

When Lamar Jackson went down with a hamstring injury last week, Cooper Rush came in and immediately started looking at Zay Flowers, especially in the short passing game. That trend should continue as the quick passing game complements both players’ strengths. Per NFL Pro, Cooper Rush averaged the second quickest time to throw in the NFL averaging 2.55 seconds, and the fewest yards per attempt with 6.0. Traditionally under Todd Monken, when the Ravens look to get their quick passing game going, it’s a safe bet Flowers will be heavily involved. Expect the chemistry between Rush and his new WR1 to develop off the strong start last week.

Zay Flowers O 48.5 Receiving Yards (-110 Bet365)

This selection goes hand in hand with the receptions prop above. We alluded to Rush heavily targeting Flowers when he entered the game late in the third quarter of last weeks game, but it’s worth diving onto the numbers to really paint the picture. Rush targeted Flowers five times on his first drive of the game early in the fourth quarter. Flowers turned those targets into four receptions for 21 yards. We can’t expect that absurd volume share to continue, but we can use that small sample size to comfortably assume Flowers will be involved early and often on Sunday. A player as talented as Flowers should have no issue turning that type of volume into 49 receiving yards.

Woody Marks O 54.5 Rushing Yards (-110 Bet365)

The Ravens rushing defense has been laughable this season, especially following the loss of all pro defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike. Through four games, they have surrendered the 6th most total rushing yards (565) at 4.6 yards per carry. Last week, the Ravens were tasked with stopping a Chiefs rushing attack that showed no explosiveness through three games. The Chiefs dominated the line of scrimmage for all four quarters and consistently churned out productive runs on early downs. Isaiah Pachecco, who had 92 total rushing yards on 25 carries (3.6 YPC) averaged 5 yards per carry last week. Woody Marks is an explosive young back who had his coming out party last week with 17 carries for 69 yards. Marks seems to have cemented his role as the lead back in Houston, and if he gets anything close to 17 carries on Sunday against this version of the Ravens defense, he will reach this mark with ease.

Nico Collins O 70.5 Receiving Yards (-110 Bet365)

Defenses in the NFL feed off each other. If the front 7 is getting pressure and stopping the run, that traditionally frees up the secondary to make plays on predictable passing downs. That obviously has not clicked yet in Baltimore and the secondary is reeling as a result. The Ravens have surrendered 1,084 passing yards through four games which is good for 5th most in the league. This week, the Ravens are tasked with containing one of the elite wide outs in today’s game in Nico Collins. Collins has reached this mark in back-to-back games and looks to achieve this number for a third straight week against a depleted Ravens secondary. If the Texans do establish the run early with a combination of Marks and Nick Chubb, it would only be a matter of time before a player of Collins caliber capitalizes against tired defense and starts racking up yards of his own.

Derrick Henry Longest Rush O 19.5 Yards (+110 Bet365)

Derrick Henry’s lack of usage, especially on early downs, received some national media attention this week as everyone was trying to figure out what the heck is happening in Baltimore. Per Dan Orlovsky of ESPN, the Ravens are dead last in the NFL in rushing rate on first and second downs so far this season. Nobody runs the ball less than the Ravens in these scenarios. That sentence right there is baffling as the Ravens rushing attack ever since Lamar came into town has been nothing short of historic. Although Lamar won’t be taking the field Sunday, you’d have to imagine the Ravens will get back to what they do best. Other than Week 2 vs. Cleveland, Henry has looked like the gamebreaker he was last year thus far. This prop in particular is a favorite of mine and was profitable for us last year, so in a game where the Ravens are desperate, I’m banking on their stars to carry the load. A vintage Derrick Henry house call could do wonders to stop the bleeding in Baltimore.
