Get Ready…A Full Look at Gang Green’s 2025 90-Man Roster

Olu Fashanu Olu Fashanu

It’s a yearly exercise that we take part in as we hope to get Jets fans up to speed on who is who and what’s what in the world of Gang Green’s pre-camp roster.  There will undoubtedly be a few names that some fans aren’t entirely familiar with, and a few you may have forgotten are still around.

That’s okay, though.  We’re here to go from 1-90 with notes, stats and thoughts on every single one of them.

S Tony Adams: Aaron Glenn has an impressive history of developing safeties in New Orleans and Detroit.  The undrafted Adams has proven to be a nice pickup out of Illinois and had three interceptions back in 2023.  He’s got the athleticism to do more with improved coaching and hopes he an be next in line.

RB Braelon Allen: The second-year back is a prime candidate to break out in 2025.  The Jets are expected to deploy  a run-heavy offense and Allen could be the perfect RB1 and goal line back.   As pointed out by the folks at PFF, Allen was called upon to run the ball sixteen times last season when the Jets needed two yards or less.   He converted on fourteen of those sixteen times.

LB Zaire Barnes: A third-year developmental linebacker out of Western Michigan, Barnes showed noticeable improvement last preseason. He should get a fair shot to stick given the Jets lack of depth at the position.

DL Tyler Baron: The rookie lineman out of Miami could help bolster a pass rush that has lost a bevy of players in recent years.  Baron was one of the top draft eligible rushers in college football last season.  According to PFF, Baron had the third-highest pass rush win rate among major programs.  The DE/LB finished behind only James Pearce and Princely Umanmielen with a 12.1% win rate.

LB Jared Barlett: An undrafted free agent out of Cincinnati, Bartlett led the Bearcats with 69 tackles and 7.5 sacks last season.  Bartlett lacks elite athleticism, but shows very good reaction time to what’s unfolding in front of him.

FB Andrew Beck: Not many teams carry fullbacks nowadays, but expect Beck to be given every possible chance to hang around.  As a very good lead blocker, Beck has a chance to be a regular contributor.

CB Jarrick Bernard-Converse: Arguably the most improved player on the roster last season, Bernard-Converse had an outstanding preseason but didn’t see a whole lot of live action once the season started.  Expect him to make the roster once again or to become trade bait.

DB Kris Boyd: Unfortunately best known for shoving his special teams coach last season, Boyd joined the Jets as a free agent this offseason with a chance to win a spot on specials once again.  In six pro seasons, Boyd has only six career starts.

CB Michael Carter: Carter’s elite play got him paid last season and the nickel corner should be in Green and White for years to come.

WR Irvin Charles: Charles was given a chance to play special teams at the end of the 2023 season and quickly showed himself to be a very high level gunner.  He’ll be tough to push off the roster unless another special teamer is lights out.

S Andre Cisco: Cisco left Jacksonville as a free agent and landed a 1-year deal with Gang Green this offseason.  His history as a ball hawk in college and some flashes with the Jags make him a candidate to be a breakout player on defense this season.

S Dean Clark: A longshot undrafted free agent out of Fresno State, Clark’s versatility and his fit as a hard-nosed special teamer give him his best shot to stand out.  Clark also has some impressive athleticism running a 4.49 at his pro day to go along with a 41” vertical.

DB Jordan Clark: The undrafted free agent DB out of Notre Dame is expected to try his hand at nickel for Gang Green.  If so, his best shot might be to stick on the practice squad.  If the Jets believe he can contribute on the boundary as well, that could change things.

DL Michael Clemons: Ask most Jets fans and you’re bound to hear plenty of shock and surprise at the fact that Clemons is still on the roster.  After an abysmal 2024, his release was a foregone conclusion as far as fans were concerned.  As it turns out, it looks like he’ll be heading to camp with a shot to make the roster if the Jets kick him inside to help bolster the run defense.

QB Brady Cook: While some believed Cook was a draftable prospect after playing well in the SEC for Missouri, he landed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent.  A proven winner with plenty of guts and mobility, Cook could end up as the team’s third quarterback.

WR Malachi Corley: As we pointed out on a recent episode of JetNation Radio, some of the hate for Corley from fans is beyond absurd at this point.  While much of his game needs refinement, there are some things he does well.  If coaches give him a chance to play to his strengths, he could be a huge x-factor.

DT Byron Cowart: A veteran of four NFL seasons who has played for the Patriots, Colts and Bears, Cowart will likely be part of a defensive tackle rotation that will play next to Quinnen Williams.  His career production has been rather pedestrian and the top PFF grade he earned was the 58.9 he logged last season.

K Caden Davis: He’ll take part in the Jets open kicking competition in training camp after hitting on 42 of 52 field goal attempts over his past two collegiate seasons.

RB Isaiah Davis: Another physical running back entering his second pro season, Davis may see some very real competition this season from undrafted free agent Donovan Edwards.

LB Jamin Davis: A veteran linebacker and former first-round pick, we believe Davis has a better shot to make the roster than many appear to think.  You’re not hearing his name very much now, but don’t be surprised if you do as the preseason moves along.

RB Donovan Edwards: Two seasons ago it wouldn’t have been at all crazy to expect Edwards to be a future top fifty pick out of Michigan.  However, his production slipped following a knee injury and he went from unstoppable, to very good.  That’s not a knock either.  We expect Edwards to make plenty of noise and to push for a roster spot.

RB Zach Evans: With so much depth in front of him with Breece Hall, Allen, Davis and Edwards, Evans is a player we like, but who might need a miracle to be anything more than a practice squad candidate.

OT Obinna Eze: A former international pathway player, Eze has ideal size for an offensive tackle and had great results in college.  But his game was still raw as he was viewed as a developmental player whose time to put up is now.

OT Olu Fashanu: Gang Green’s left tackle of the future who played well as a rookie before landing on IR as the season came to a close.  The upgrade over last season’s opening day tackle Tyron Smith should be enormous.

QB Justin Fields: Now with his third team in three seasons, Fields looks to prove that the problems in his past have more to do with the coaching and lack of talent around him than it did with him.

DE Michael Fletcher: A late undrafted free agent signing, the App State product has good enough size (6′ 6” 275) to be a factor outside against the run.

CB Sauce Gardner: The two-time all-pro corner will look to bounce back after a down year in 2024.  Look for Gardner’s interception numbers to see an uptick in a scheme that will look to rush opposing QB’s into making bad decisions under pressure.

WR Xavier Gipson: Entering his third season, Gipson may have a chance to make the roster yet again as the receiving corps  has plenty of questions.  His ability to return punts also helps.

RB Breece Hall: The man expected to carry the load for a run heavy offense with a talented offensive line?  Expect big things from Hall in ’25.

OL Gus Hartwig: An experienced lineman for Purdue (51 career games), the undrafted Hartwig is better known for his pass pro than his run blocking.  There are those who believe he can make the practice squad.

OL Marquis Hayes: Signed just a few weeks ago, the former Packers product has yet to play any live reps in an NFL game.  The Oklahoma product was drafted in the seventh round of the 2022 draft by the Arizona Cardinals.

LS Thomas Hennessy: A steady performer as the team’s long snapper, expect Hennessy to win that spot again this year.

DE Jermaine Johnson: Johnson is coming off of a ruptured achilles that ended his season prematurely in 2024 so don’t expect a whole lot from him early on.  But when he’s on, he’s an excellent all-around defender.

TE Neal Johnson: The Jets tight end group doesn’t have much proven talent, but they have some intriguing options in Mason Taylor, Jeremy Ruckert, Stone Smartt and Zack Kuntz.  Johnson will likely be the odd man out unless Gang Green is looking to carry a guy whose primary role is as a blocker.

WR Tyler Johnson: Johnson showed some promise early in his career in Tampa Bay when he put up 360 yards in his second season.  Since then he has fewer yards than that over three seasons combined.  Not a guy we’d write off with the receiver group though.

DE Kingsley Jonathan: A likely camp body, Jonathan has appeared in just twenty games over 3 seasons with the Bills where he logged 10 tackles on 167 snaps.  He has also played a bit of special teams so could get a look there.

P Kai Kroeger: The South Carolina product has a booming leg and could end up winning the Jets punting job.

TE Zack Kuntz: Everyone’s favorite athletic freak, Kuntz was another guy who was drafted as a multi-year project.  Well, this is now year three.  Time for Kuntz to show something or likely get moved along.  Perhaps the Jets should explore using him as a  big slot if his blocking at tight end is holding him back.

WR Allen Lazard: Another guy who many Jets fans assumed would be gone by now, Lazard is still around to drive everyone crazy with his drops, but still remains one of the Jets better options at WR2.

OL Kohl Levao: Levao was impressive last pre-season after coming on board from the UFL.  The former Hawaii product plays with a mean streak and will look to impress another regime to hang around again.

QB Adrian Martinez: Plagued by turnovers in college, Martinez looked to have cleaned that up in the UFL before landing with the Jets where he’ll push for the third quarterback spot again.

DT Phidarian Mathis: Similar to Jamin Davis, Mathis is a defender who has a good shot to surprise and make the roster.  A former pick of the Browns out of Alabama, the 312 pound Mathis has the potential to be a very good run stopper which the Jets desperately need.

LB Franciso Mauigoa: One of two Miami defenders drafted by the Jets this offseason, Mauigoa is a solid all-around backer who is sure to stick.

LB Marcelino McCrary-Ball: The college safety turned linebacker has been a very good special teamer in his time with the Jets and will compete for a similar spot this season.

Edge Will McDonald IV: After a breakout season last year, McDonald has reportedly added fifteen pounds this offseason.  The Jets hope this means he’ll hold up better against the run and become a more well-rounded defender.

Edge Braiden McGregor: McGregor impressed enough last preseason to make the 53-man roster and get a fair bit of live action.  Will a thin edge group this season mean he makes it again?

P Austin McNamara: The Texas Tech product will be a primary candidate to win the punting job.  McNamara averaged a whopping 45.9 yards per punt in college.

RT Armand Membou: This year’s first-round draft selection, the Jets envision Membou as a player who can round out their starting five up front for many years to come.

K Harrison Mevis: It’s been quite some time since the Jets had what could be viewed as a long-term solution at kicker.  They hope Mevis can be just that.

WR Dymere Miller: An absolute burner at wide receiver, Miller has to do a better job of securing the football if he wants to make any roster.  His ten drops last season are a big red flag.

OT Max Mitchell: A move inside to guard might be best for Mitchell to salvage his career.  Things haven’t worked well at tackle and he could be shown the door by a new regime.

S Jarius Monroe: A 2024 undrafted free agent whose game we like, keep an eye on Monroe as a potential surprise performer this preseason.

S Malachi Moore: Widely viewed as the best value pick of the Jets rookie class, Moore has a good shot to not only see the field as a rookie, but to be starter right off the bat.  Logged seven interceptions and 28 passes broken up in his time at Alabama.

DT Fatorma Mulbah: While Mulbah lacks the size you might want in a true run stuffing defensive tackle at 6′ 4” 306, Mulbah’s get off and quick hands played a big role in him being a very good run stopper in college.  We like Mulbah’s chances.

C Josh Myers: A nice depth addition to the interior, Myers was Justin Fields’ center at Ohio State and has started 56 games as a pro.  Some have suggested Myers is competing for the starting job with Joe Tippmann which seems absurd on the surface, but could the Jets brass be considering Myers to do all they can to make Fields comfortable?  Feels like the press stirring the pot, but it’s wouldn’t be the craziest thing the Jets have ever done.

OG Xavier Newman: We thought Newman was another player who showed notable improvement last season.  There will be more competition on the interior this season but don’t be surprised if he sticks again.

DL Derrick Nnadi: A former starter for Kansas City, Nnadi  is the latest in a long line of mid to low-level vets who come in to play alongside Quinnen Williams.  We didn’t see a ton of run stopping ability from Nnadi on film and his PFF grades are in line with that takeaway.  Per PFF, the last time Nnadi’s run stop grade was above 50 was back in 2020.

RB/KR Kene Nwangwu: Listed as a running back, Nwangwu is almost exclusively a return man.  Having played at an elite level in the past.

OT Chukwuma Okorafor: Signed before the NFL draft, there was some expectation that Okorafor would start for the Jets if they hadn’t taken a tackle early on.  Like Myers, Okorafor is a proven veteran starter who becomes a potentially valuable depth piece.

DB Isaiah Oliver: An underrated player, Oliver gives Aaron Glenn a versatile backup who can move all over the secondary.  Not a player who gets much attention from the fan base but does a nice job when called upon.

DT Payton Page: Along with Mulbah, Page is another undrafted free agent at defensive tackle with a shot to stick.  Page played his college ball at Clemson where he excelled as a run stopper.

WR Jamaal Pritchett: A small school undrafted free agent out of South Alabama, Pritchett has potential as a return man and showed playmaking ability when he logged over 1,100 yards to go along with 9 touchdowns on 91 receptions last season.

WR Josh Reynolds: A solid veteran who has produced as a starter when given a chance, don’t be surprised if Reynolds is your week 1 WR2.

TE Jeremy Ruckert: It’s a due or die season for the former Ohio State product who has been invisible as a receiver since his arrival.  Will a new coaching staff get the most out of Ruckert with his college QB now under center.

LB Jamien Sherwood: For the first time in his career Sherwood enters the season as the day 1 starter after finally breaking out last season.

S Jaylin Simpson: Add Simpson to the long list of young safeties who should get a good look this preseason.  A former pick of the Colts, Simpson was let go in-season last year and got scooped up by Gang Green.

OG John Simpson: Simpson was added as a free agent last offseason and had the best season of his career.  He’ll line up next to Fashanu to complete a formidable left side of the offensive line.

LB Jackson Sirmon: The former Cal linebacker enters his second pro season after spending last season on the practice squad.

WR Quentin Skinner: A long receiver who can win above the rim at 6′ 5” 195, if Skinner makes plays for the Jets the way he did in Kansas where he averaged 19.8 yards per catch over his final three seasons, he’ll have a shot as a pro.

TE Stone Smartt: Smart comes over from the Chargers as a free agent where he had just 31 catches over three seasons.

LB Aaron Smith: An undrafted free agent out out South Carolina State, Smith had a career high 71 tackles last season and graded out well as an all around ‘backer according to PFF.

WR Arian Smith: A wide receiver with all the speed in the world, the biggest concern with Smith is his hands.  He dropped ten passes in his final college season.  That won’t cut it as a pro.

WR Brandon Smith: A guy who really popped last preseason as an unheralded receiver out of Iowa, Smith is a dark horse to make the roster.  We loved what we saw from him on film in college and he managed to open some eyes last August too.

CB Brandon Stephens: A $12 million per year free agent who left the Ravens, Stephens surrendered over 800 receiving yards last year.  The biggest question here is whether or not he can hold off rookie Azareye’h Thomas.

CB Qwan’tez Stiggers: The feel-good story of last year’s draft out of Canada is now going to have to show he belongs in the NFL with a new regime in place.  Under Aaron Glenn’s watchful eye, Stiggers is one of several young corners that the team hopes will blossom this year.

DT Leonard Taylor III: The top undrafted free agent on the roster last season, Taylor has enough talent to win a starting job at some point.

TE Mason Taylor: The second-round pick remains unsigned with camp approaching, but expect big things from the rookie once he gets to work.

QB Tyrod Taylor: A great option as your QB2, Taylor brings professionalism, experience and a valuable voice to an otherwise young quarterback room.  He can also win  you a game or two in a pinch if needed.

CB Azareye’h Thomas: A highly thought of corner out of Florida State with excellent size, expect Thomas to challenge for a starting job at some point during the season.

C Joe Tippmann: The center from Wisconsin enters his third pro season after showing steady improvement through his first two years.  Is this the year we see Tippmann hit his potential and become a top center?

DT Jay Tufele: Tufele was added as a free agent and becomes another body in the mix to play next to Quinnen Williams.  Owner of 44 tackles in four pro seasons, Tufele has started just five games as a pro.

OL Alijah Vera-Tucker: A huge year upcoming for Vera-Tucker who will look to prove he can stay healthy once again, and is worth of a big pay day.

OT Carter Warren: Warren has had a rough go of it at times in limited action since being drafted, but has also earned some praise when he saw the field two years ago as a rookie.  Another guy who will be under the microscope this season.

Edge Eric Watts: Perhaps one of the more surprising players last season was Watts who went undrafted out of Connecticut and held his own when given a shot on Sundays.

DL Rashad Weaver: A 2021 fourth-round draft choice, Weaver fizzled out in Tennessee after logging 5.5 sacks in his second season.  He’ll get a shot to show whether or not he can be a factor as a pass rusher.

LB Ja’markis Westin: A rookie special teamer out of Florida, the Jets seem enamored with Westin who will be given every chance to make the roster as a special teamer.

OL Leander Wiegand: Purely a mystery man at this point, Wiegand is an undrafted free agent out of Germany and we wish you luck finding any film on him.

LB Quincy Williams: Williams has solidified himself as one of the better linebackers in the NFL and will be playing for a new deal in 2025.  Combine that with a new blitz-heavy scheme and we think you should prepare yourself for a

DT Quinnen Williams: Just named to the NFL’s top 100 for the third consecutive season, it’s going to be interesting to see if Aaron Glenn can get even more out of the all-pro than previous coaches have.

WR Garrett Wilson: It seems no matter who his quarterback is, Wilson always finds a way to get to 1,000 yards.  Expect him to do it again this year.

WR Ontaria Wilson: A little-known receiver out of FSU, Wilson isn’t the most athletic receiver on the roster, but he did seem to find a way to make big plays for the Seminoles.
