OTL: Waiting on Lamar Jackson’s Status
Happy Purple Friday, Flock!
Our enthusiasm for our second-favorite day of the week (the first being game day) is a bit muted this morning, not only from our bellies full of breakfast candy, but by the sudden ongoing saga that is Lamar Jackson’s health.
We’ve been down similar roads before with LJ, but this time is a bit different. It isn’t some mystery illness or clear injury that he suffered on the field – Jackson finished the Cleveland game and looked just fine moving the Ravens down the field to potentially win twice in the final five minutes. But he didn’t practice on Wednesday or Thursday, never a good sign.
The good news is that if anyone knows the offense like the back of his hand and won’t be adversely affected by missing a few days, it’s QB1.
Still, we’re all going to be nervously watching for those practice reports from 1 Winning Drive over the next few hours. My wild guess is that the AFC Offensive Player of the Month is on the field today, then is listed as limited & questionable, and of course suits up against Denver.

In the game, he’ll once again likely have to put his superpowers on display, including this one:

We know LJ makes his OL look better than they are (looking at YOU, Faalele), but being that far head and shoulders above his contemporaries in avoiding sacks is truly remarkable.
This winter, he’ll have one of the NFL’s best-ever cold-weather running backs next to him to help him out though.
Derrick Henry career regular-season yards per carry by month.
Winter is coming

A fantasy football podcast I listen to has nicknamed Henry “The Yeti,” due to his sheer size, of course, but also due to his cold weather prowess.
Here’s the thing about that though: Henry has heretofore played his entire career in the AFC South, where he was playing in domes in Indy and Houston, and warm-weather climes in Nashville & Jacksonville. Now, in the AFC North? With the Ravens having November/December games in Baltimore (5) and Pittsburgh, and another date in New York?
LET’S GOOOOOO YETI.
