Credit the Jets defense for coming to play on a day when Aaron Rodgers and the offense may as well have been visiting King Charles rather than show up at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
It was a royal mess early on as Aaron Rodgers, for the first time in his career, threw two interceptions in the first quarter. One of which was returned for a touchdown by Andrew Van Ginkel to put the Vikings up 10-0.
A 2-yard touchdown run from CJ Ham made it 17-0 early in the second quarter as a win for the Jets appeared out of the question, but the team did make it interesting from there.
The Jets would hold the Vikings to just two field goals in the second half while Rodgers tried to atone for his early picks by tossing a pair of touchdowns to Allen Lazard and Garrett Wilson. A Greg Zuerlein field goal in the fourth quarter made it 20-17 before the Vikings took a six point lead with Will Reichard connecting on a field goal of his own.
With a chance to win the game with a late touchdown the Jets were driving down the field against the Vikings defense before an Aaron Rodgers deep ball to Mike Williams was intercepted to close things out.
When all was said and done, the Jets defense held former Jets quarterback Sam Darnold to 179 yards on 14 of 31 passing. Ten of the Vikings points came on the pick six and a field goal on which the Vikings took possession already in field goal range.
Adding injury to insult, Rodgers mentioned possibly being slowed with foot and knee injuries while meeting with the press.
Different year, same stuff. Defense holds up and offense pulls a no-show.
