Queen City Songbird Stesha Cano Nominated For New England Music Awards' 2016 Female Performer Of The Year

January 14, 2016 (MMD Newswire) — Bangor Maine’s own Singer-Songwriter, Stesha Cano has been nominated for this prestigious award to be presented at the New England Music Awards ceremony held at Blue Ocean Music Hall & Event Center in Salisbury Beach, MA on Saturday April 9, 2016, 7:30 to 10:00 PM.

Stesha has been a staple in the Central and Coastal Maine music scene since 2005. With two full-length albums already released, (Like a Bee, and Simple as Everything) she is currently recording her third album scheduled for release at the end of 2016. While all of Stesha’s recorded material is original, many of her fans have also enjoyed her unique interpretations of covers ranging in genre from Blue-Eyed Soul to Grunge Rock to Traditional Jazz. Her expansive style transcends a label creating an ever changing and exciting listening experience. Stesha’s voice is full in tone and range and is often described as sultry and soulful. Stesha grew up in the Bangor and Ellsworth, Maine areas and graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in Spanish. She studied in Spain during her senior year of college and has travelled extensively throughout Europe and Central America. She recently spent a winter living and performing in New Orleans all of which has added multicultural texture and dimension to her sound. Stesha is the only female performer residing in Maine that has been nominated for this or any other award by the New England Music Awards this year.
