HPI (Halo Paranormal Investigations) has a long arm that now reaches to South Carolina. HPI Paranormal Investigator Mike Ouilhon has left the Greater Sacramento area and moved to Spartanburg, South Carolina. I have investigated many places in South Carolina and South Carolina is known to be a very haunted state. Mike has a list of places in South Carolina that he wants to investigate. Mike will keep me informed on what he discovers. Let’s take a look at his list. See below:

Oakwood Cemetery (Hell’s Gate)
This cemetery is reputed to be highly haunted, earning it the nickname “Hell’s Gate”. Paranormal investigators have reported seeing glowing orbs and disappearing apparitions. The apparitions will appear and then disappear. Visitors have reported experiencing cell phone malfunctions and cars shutting off at night. Legends mention a crying angel statue that appears to weep when illuminated by car lights. In 1914, the city relocated over 100 bodies from a different cemetery to Oakwood to make way for a new railroad line. This mass disturbance is cited as a potential cause of spiritual unrest. A section of the cemetery served as a “Potter’s field,” where the poor, prisoners, and wards of the state were buried, often in unmarked graves. This practice is often associated with paranormal activity in folklore. One of the most famous stories is the legend of a “woman in white,” a figure shrouded in mist who is said to wander the grounds searching for her son who died after falling near Potter’s field. Visitors and paranormal investigators have claimed to experience various unexplained phenomena at the cemetery. There have been reports of glowing orbs, wandering apparitions and shadowy figures zipping around here and there. Witnesses claim to hear blood curdling screams, disembodied voices, and maniacal laughter throughout the cemetery. Other visitors have reported sudden, unexplained drops in temperature. Some visitors have experienced a feeling of dread.

Converse College
The college is said to have multiple haunted buildings, including the Williams Dorm. A ghostly boy is reported to play catch by the laundry room in the Williams Dorm. Doreen, a former student said that the ghostly bouncing ball boy was constantly hitting his invisible ball against the laundry room wall. When Doreen asked him to stop, he laughed and continued bouncing his invisible ball against the wall. Hazel of the Hazel B. Abott theater is said to haunt the building. Hazel is known to walk right up to you and stare into your eyes, she will then walk away and disappear. Wilson Hall is believed to be haunted by a ghost with red eyes. The campus’s ghost stories include sightings of specific spirits, unexplained noises, and other paranormal phenomena. A former resident recalled hearing unexplained loud knocking and seeing framed photos turned face-down in her room, particularly when male visitors were present. Cudd Hall is the subject of many haunting stories. A student who allegedly died by suicide in the building decades ago is said to have left an outline on a door that supposedly can’t be erased. The campus’s Bell Tower is rumored to be haunted. A skinny man ghost is sometimes seen at Bell Tower. There are stories of a ghost in the theater who makes it “distinctly uncomfortable” for anyone who dares to sit in her seat. Logan Danzel who was visiting, sat in the forbidden seat and was pinched 3 times. The pinch marks left bruises on Logan’s backside. At Ezell Hall there was victims of the 1914 influenza epidemic that are known to haunt this building. Disembodied moaning is sometimes heard. Ezell Hall once housed the writing center. At least one campus police officer has reportedly refused to enter the basement of the Alumni House after dark, claiming there is “something evil down there”. Frieda Marksman has been in the basement and says that is where “Greenie” resides at. Frieda says that Greenie is a 3-foot goblin demon and is completely green in color. Frieda believes that one of the students was playing with a Ouija Board and summoned the demon known as “Greenie” at the Alumni House.

Foster’s Tavern
The Historic Foster’s Tavern in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, is widely believed to be haunted, according to local legend. However, the building is a private residence, not a public business, and the owners have been known to discourage unwanted visitors. Built in the early 1800s, the mansion served as a popular stagecoach inn, and many guests, including prominent figures like John C. Calhoun and Bishop Francis Asbury, stayed there. A ghost story passed down for generations says a man committed suicide by hanging himself in the house. His spirit is believed to search the property for his horse. They call him the “Hanging Man”. A former owner who grew up in the home reported hearing unexplained sounds, including knocking and loud clunks. According to a long-standing tale, a group of men moved an old piano out of the attic and onto the porch. When they returned for it, the piano was gone, only to be found back inside the attic. Another story tells of a stagecoach, complete with horses and a man resembling Abraham Lincoln, appearing out of the tavern’s front door and then vanishing. They call him the “Stagecoach Specter”. The owners have publicly stated that the house has “a presence”.

Clifton Mill No. 2
This 120-year-old textile mill, now demolished, was once the site of alleged hauntings. Witnesses claimed to have heard doors opening on their own and ghostly footsteps. Local legends and paranormal investigations often link the alleged hauntings to a gruesome incident at the mill in 1929. Reported paranormal activity at the mill includes: Audio phenomena; visitors and investigators have reported hearing disembodied footsteps and screams echoing from inside the old mill. Some claim to have seen shadowy figures and other unexplained sights. Paranormal investigators have even captured an image of a silhouetted figure with shining eyes on camera. The violent history of the mill is said to have left a lingering emotional imprint of rage and fear that can still be felt by some visitors. The mill’s reputation for being haunted is tied to a grisly axe murder that occurred at the site in 1929. The tragedy is believed to have left residual energy from the victims and the perpetrator. The old mill’s structure is still standing, contributing to its unsettling atmosphere and attracting ghost hunters.
