Sheridan Gorman’s Murder by Illegal Alien Provides Learning Experience for Aspiring Journalists

Being inexperienced, aspiring journalists at college newspapers sometimes screw up by reporting events accurately at the expense of the liberal agenda. When they do, they apologize and correct their error.

Daily Caller reports from Loyola University Chicago:

The Loyola Phoenix posted an editor’s note apologizing for the headline of its story reporting the charges filed against Jose Medina-Medina. The headline originally referred to Medina-Medina as an illegal immigrant, which the note said “didn’t reflect the most important elements in the story.”

The most important elements are not Medina-Medina allegedly murdering 18-year old Sheridan Gorman, who was a student at the school, much less that he is an illegal alien. Most important in any story is to promote moonbattery, which the paper went back and accomplished by piously barking that “No human’s existence is illegal.”

The editors note said that the term “illegal immigrant” does not align with Associated Press (AP) style or “the values of this newspaper.”

Said values align fine with the woke propagandists at AP.

As for the allegedly unimportant elements of the story,

The man is in fact an illegal immigrant from Venezuela, who the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed was released by the Biden administration after being arrested by U.S. Border Patrol. DHS alleged in a Monday press release that Medina-Medina approached Gorman’s group of friends wearing a mask and holding a gun, shooting and killing the 18-year-old student.

As the liberal manual 1984 advises, the paper went back to revise the record:

The paper updated its story to call Medina-Medina a “Rogers Park Resident” and deleted the original Instagram post calling him an illegal immigrant.

The amateurs at the Loyola Phoenix made another mistake by failing to name the villain of the story. This is not the put-upon Medina-Medina, a victim who was subjected to microaggression with the term “illegal alien.” Nor is it the Biden Regime, which released him twice in 2023 instead of sending him back to his own country. It is of course Donald Trump.

The more experienced JB Pritzker demonstrates the correct spin for the story:

To quote Jabba:

“I agree there have been real failures. Those failures of course extend beyond the borders of Illinois. They’re national failures, a failure to have comprehensive immigration reform, a failure of the president to follow his own edict to go after the worst of the worst.”

For context, Medina-Medina was running loose because Pritzker’s Illinois is a sanctuary state. ICE has in fact been going after the worst of the worst, despite dogged opposition from Democrats like Pritzker. “Comprehensive immigration reform” is Liberalese for amnesty for illegal aliens like Medina-Medina.
