Why I Support the “No Kings” Movement
Those who sponsored the “No Kings” marches across the United States on October 19, 2025, stated, “Because this country does not belong to kings, dictators, or tyrants. It belongs to We the People—the people who care, who show up, and who fight for dignity, a life we can afford, and real opportunity. No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings.” Are we to assume that only they care, fight for dignity, and strive for a life we can afford?
We all could “afford” more if the kings in Congress stopped taxing us for unconstitutional, immoral, and destructive programs. Here’s the funny part. “Hollywood celebrities went wild for the anti-Trump ‘No Kings’ protests this weekend, appearing at various events around the country.” These Hollywood celebrities only care about the poor slobs who are marching to make sure they will continue to watch their films so they can keep living like kings and queens. Look at the image below from ‘Official Spike Lee’ using his endorsement for Timberland’s Yellow Boot, a fashion symbol of New York City and hip-hop culture. How much do you think Lee gets paid for his endorsement? Keep marching, suckers! Lee doesn’t “give a damn” about your grievances. Many celebrity supporters live in gated communities far above the hoi polloi and riff raff marching in the streets.
If President Trump was a king, he could open the government. Because he is not a king, he cannot open the government. Congress oversees the “opening of the government.” The Democrat kings have had 12 opportunities to open the government. It would only take eight of them. The “No Kings” march was misdirected. Speaker Johnson said that shutting down the government by the Democrats “is a political stunt, and it’s the first time it’s been done, and it is the most costly, most selfish, most dangerous political stunt in the history of the United States Congress, because, as we have stood here day after day after day explaining — all the Americans who were being harmed by this nonsense, and the Senate Democrats have zero shame about this.”

The “No Kings” promotion states, “America has No Kings.” I beg to differ. The real kings are in Congress. The purpose of the Constitution was not to make the people generally (democracy) or the President (monarchy) kings. Congress is where laws are made. Congress determines how much money you and I can keep from our hard-earned wages. As Chief Justice John Marshall stated in McCulloch v. Maryland (1819), “the power to tax involves the power to destroy.” When these congressional kings and queens get together and pass laws, they function as royalty for us to do their bidding. And when the people vote for people to take money from us and write legislation, then they are in league with the kings and queens. The marchers want the kings and queens to do their bidding. Congress issues thousands of pages of regulations every year, telling us how we can and should live. Whover controls Congress rules the nation and parts of the world. Control Congress, and you control the lives of every American.
The Supreme Court (oligarchy) is also limited in its jurisdictional role. Unfortunately, the court has become a central player in national decisions that Congress has often refused to tackle, or better, that the Constitution does not give it the authority or the power to implement.
The Ninth and Tenth Amendments describe the limitations of the power and authority granted by the Constitution:
Ninth Amendment: “The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.”
This Amendment was designed to address concerns raised during the ratification debates. Listing specific rights in the Bill of Rights might imply that those were the only rights citizens possessed, potentially allowing the government to infringe upon unlisted rights. James Madison introduced the amendment as a compromise to reassure Anti-Federalists that the Constitution protected unenumerated rights, even if not explicitly listed. The amendment asserts that the rights listed in the Constitution are not exhaustive, affirming that individuals retain other fundamental rights beyond those specifically enumerated in the first eight amendments.
Tenth Amendment: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
The Tenth Amendment reinforces the principle of federalism by affirming that the federal government only possesses those powers explicitly granted by the Constitution. In contrast, all other powers are reserved for the states or the people.

No amendment in our Bill of Rights is more deeply rooted in American history, politics, and government than our Tenth Amendment. Its roots are deep in the colonies’ histories, in the framing and ratification of our first constitution, our Articles of Confederation, and in the framing and ratification of our Constitution and our Bill of Rights. They might be traced back to English history and the authority of self-governing entities in medieval law, and even to the form of civil government which God gave His people when they entered the Promised Land after their exodus from Egypt, though that is beyond the scope of this work.
I’m all for supporting “No Kings.” The best way to do that is to vote for people who will decrease the Federal government’s power so that we end up having ministers instead of kings and queens with an unlimited purse and a regulatory bureaucracy that stays in power. I’d like to see the Continuing Resolution never get voted on, so it will become necessary to shut down most of the government.
