RSF Demands Release Of Scholarships, Repeal Of Education GOs

Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh:The RSF staged a massive protest at the Kadapa Collectorate on Monday, demanding immediate release of pending scholarships and fee reimbursements amounting to Rs 6,400 crore, and calling for the repeal of government orders they said were detrimental to poor and middle-class students.

Pending scholarships and fee reimbursements

RSF State President DM Obulesu Yadav said thousands of students were unable to receive their certificates or continue higher education due to non-release of scholarships and fee reimbursements. “Rs 6,400 crore arrears have been pending for years, pushing poor students to the brink,” he said.

Criticism of GO 77

Obulesu slammed the previous government for introducing GO No 77, which he said effectively denied fee reimbursement to students pursuing PG courses such as MBA, MCA, MMC, and MMA. He demanded that the order be repealed and fee reimbursement extended to all PG students.

Repeal of other education GOs

The RSF also sought the repeal of GO Nos 42 and 35, which regulate aided educational institutions. Obulesu argued that these orders restricted access to education for the poor and marginalized sections.

The student body demanded Rs 100 crore for the development of Yogi Vemana University, filling of vacant teaching and non-teaching posts, and allocation of adequate funds for welfare hostels. They also called for an increase in cosmetic and mess charges in line with rising prices.

Warning against privatization

Obulesu warned that if the government does not withdraw moves to privatize government medical colleges, RSF will intensify its agitation with a “Chalo Vijayawada” protest.

Large participation in rally

Earlier in the day, a massive rally was taken out from Mahaveer Circle to the Collectorate. RSF State leader Sake Hari, District President Shiva, YVU President K Narasimhudu, City President Vamsi, Secretary Chenna Keshava, and several other leaders joined, along with hundreds of students.
