AIKMS Alleges Artificial Urea Shortage, Seeks Action On Officials
Emmiganur – Andhra Pradesh: The All India Kisan Mazdoor Sangh (AIKMS) has alleged that agriculture officials in Emmiganur mandal are deliberately creating an artificial shortage of urea in collusion with fertilizer shop owners. Submitting a petition at the Tahsildar’s office on Monday, the union demanded a probe and strict action against those responsible.

Charges against agriculture officials
AIKMS District General Secretary M Satyanna said farmers were not receiving their full requirement of urea despite officials claiming adequate stock. He accused agriculture staff of working hand-in-glove with certain fertilizer dealers to divert supplies.

Unfair conditions on farmers
Satyanna criticized the practice of forcing farmers to purchase pesticides as a condition for receiving urea bags. He said such rules were unjust and added to the burden on struggling farmers.
The union demanded that the Agriculture Department release a white paper detailing urea allocations in metric tons to each fertilizer shop in the mandal. They alleged that token inspections carried out earlier by officials were abandoned without any follow-up.

Call for raids and license cancellations
AIKMS leaders urged authorities to conduct raids on fertilizer shops selling urea at inflated prices and cancel their licenses. They said accountability was needed to restore farmers’ trust and prevent exploitation.
The protest saw participation from AIKMS leaders K Nagaraju, Venkatesh, mandal leaders Yellappa, Veeranjini, Mallikarjuna, Rameshappa, Sanjanna, as well as IFTU leader Babu and local farmers.
