Company recalls golden raisins because of undeclared sulfites
Nirwana Foods is recalling its 28-ounce pouches of golden raisins because they may contain undeclared sulfites. People who have allergies to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The recalled golden raisins were distributed at retail stores of Maharaja Super Market and Villager Farmers Market stores.
The product comes in 28-ounce pouches made of clear plastic and marked with lot (24/351-2410) on the top and with an expiration date of Oct 31, 2025, stamped on the label. The product UPC number is 712321993144.
No illnesses or allergic reactions involving this product have been reported to date.
The recall was initiated after routine sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed that the sulfites containing product golden raisin pouches did not reveal the presence of sulfites.
Consumers who have purchased 28-ounce pouches of golden raisins are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 201-659-2200.
