Summary Of What’s In This Weekly Wrap-Up

Four companies from our Model Portfolios and Stock Screens, Kewaunee Scientific Corporation (NASDAQ:KEQU), Optical Cable Corporation (NASDAQ:OCC), Rf Industries, Ltd. (NASDAQ:RFIL) and Frequency Electronics, Inc. (NASDAQ:FEIM) reported earnings this week, keeping the longer-term bullish setups intact, even if price action didn’t fully cooperate for all of them, presumably due to investors misunderstanding quarterly results or misconstruing management narrative. 

This might give us the opportunity to start thinking about launching our Buy On Pullback (BOP) Model Portfolio #14.

The big mover highlight of the week was Optical Cable Corporation (NASDAQ:OCC), rising 54% for the week on Q3 earnings. However, my favorite highlight of the week was our Fireside Chat Skull Session with the CEO of Phonex Holdings, Inc. (OOTC:PXHI), shown later in this weekly issue. We learned about the company’s transition to a full software service product offering. Dan Kunze, our first Geoinvesting intern, about 8 years ago, co-hosted the conversation with me.

Broadwind, Inc. (NASDAQ:BWEN) finally completed a long-awaited $13.5 million asset sale and gave us updated guidance and a $3 million buyback announcement, though we’re still scratching our heads over why their ATM (At-the-market offering) remains active. We’re still digging into the guidance to understand what it means for earnings per share potential… or lack thereof.

We also featured a fresh outside perspective on Table Trac, Inc. (OTC:TBTC), a casino software management provider where the GeoInvesting contributor explains how recurring maintenance fees give the business a SaaS-like backbone, even if the variability in software installs make results lumpy.

And finally, although Qualstar Corp. (OOTC:QBAK) (data storage systems)  was not technically part of this week’s coverage, I am circling back to the company. They are exploring opportunities in off-cloud data storage with an eye toward recurring revenue. I highlighted QBAK in the prior week’s Open Forum, explicitly talking about why its off-cloud storage business is playing on key AI growth trends. The stock shot up 26.34% this week.
