Open letter to President Ramaphosa the DA Operation to remove undocumented African immigrants is racist and xenophobic.

Dear President Ramaphosa,

I am writing to express my deep concern and outrage regarding the recent operation by the DA to remove Zimbabwean immigrants from South Africa. This operation is a clear example of xenophobia and racism, targeting black Zimbabweans and other foreigners in poor suburbs like Tembisa, Cosmo City, Alexandra, Soweto, and Johannesburg CBD.

Meanwhile, many Europeans and Chinese reside in South Africa without proper documents, yet they are not being targeted. This blatant racial bias is unacceptable and perpetuates harmful stereotypes. The DA’s actions are sending a dangerous message, encouraging blacks to fight against blacks and reinforcing the misconception that black Zimbabweans or foreigners are stealing South African jobs.

The situation is volatile, with many innocent Zimbabweans killed by mob justice. I implore your government to address the root causes of immigration and work towards promoting unity and brotherhood. The European Union, United Nations, and international community must provide financial support to Zimbabweans and South Africans to start small businesses.
The government of South Africa and Donors must release money into the hands of poor South Africans so they can start projects which produce more food and jobs. South Africans are hard-pressed by the economic crisis. They need serious, fair and transparent intervention.

Zimbabweans are sustaining South Africa’s economy, importing millions of dollars’ worth of goods daily. If Zimbabweans were to boycott South African goods, it could lead to further unemployment and suffering in South Africa.

I condemn the mistreatment of poor undocumented immigrants, forced to pay bribes between R1000 and R5000 to be released by the police. This is unacceptable in a country that prides itself on being a “Rainbow Nation.”
