While Riyadh initially advocated for diplomacy in public, leaked details suggest MBS made multiple private calls to Trump urging decisive military action.
Saudi Arabia is currently hosting a consultative meeting of foreign ministers from Arab and Islamic countries in Riyadh to coordinate a response to what they described as “brazen and cowardly” Iranian strikes.
Iran has retaliated for an Israeli strike on its massive South Pars gas field by launching waves of attacks on energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE. These strikes have triggered a global surge in energy prices, leading the Trump administration to consider releasing more from the Strategic Oil Reserve.
