US could directly intervene in Ukraine – ex-CIA chief

BATTLEFORWORLD.COM | October 22, 2022: Retired US Army general David Petraeus told France’s L’Express weekly on Saturday that the US and its allies may join the conflict in Kiev, Ukraine against Moscow even if there is no threat to NATO member states. That in such a scenario, Washington DC might form a new coalition of the willing and use it instead of NATO, said Petraeus.

He believes that Russia may take some actions in Ukraine that would be “so shocking and so horrific” and this would cause a prompt response from the United States and their allies, where they “might react in one way or another, but as a multinational force led by the US and not as a NATO force.”

As if some type of provocation is being planned to give the US a plausible reason where the NATO military alliance would still be likely bound by its treaty, to join only if some form of conflict-incitement invokes Article 5, that is, if one of its members was attacked, the general believes. …
