CAFE RIO MEXICAN GRILL ANNOUNCES THEIR PARTNERSHIP WITH ST. MARY’S FOOD BANK ALLIANCE AND CONTINUES THEIR EXPANSION IN ARIZONA WITH TEMPE OPENING ON SEPTEMBER 14TH

Tempe, AZ (MMD Newswire) September 13, 2016 — Cafe Rio Mexican Grill has announced their partnership with the World’s First Food Bank, St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance. St Mary’s has been helping to feed millions of hungry people in Arizona since 1967, having distributed more than 900 million pounds of food. In their current fiscal year they distributed nearly 74 million pounds of food that represents enough food to provide more than 200,000 meals per day.

“We could not be happier to partner with and support this outstanding organization,” states Dave Gagnon, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Cafe Rio Mexican Grill. “Their efforts are helping feed hundreds of thousands of adults and children every year in the state of Arizona. We have a strong belief of giving back and supporting community partners that are truly making a difference and saving lives. As we open more doors in Arizona, it is a small part that we play in giving ongoing donations to St. Mary’s, allowing them to continue their important work in feeding the needy.”

St. Mary’s, based in Phoenix, distributes food through a state network of 474 agency partners in 13 of Arizona’s 15 counties, including domestic violence shelters, dining halls, schools, churches, children’s shelters, food pantries, residential treatment facilities and senior centers.

“St. Mary’s is proud to partner with Cafe Rio and humbled to be selected as their charity of choice in Arizona,” St. Mary’s Director of Public Relations Jerry Brown said. “More than one in five Arizona families and more than 400,000 children struggle with food insecurity in our state and it is only through partners like Cafe Rio than St. Mary’s can fulfill its mission to reach as many of them as possible.”

Cafe Rio will continue their expansion in Arizona with opening six additional locations over the next year, in addition to their recent Queen Creek opening and their upcoming Tempe opening on Sept. 14th. Other markets that they are exploring in Arizona are Ocotillo, Mesa, Surprise, Peoria, 95th& Glendale and Paradise Valley. Their current Arizona locations include Camelback, Flagstaff, Avondale, San Tan, Chandler, Scottsdale and Happy Valley. The company will also be re-opening their Gilbert location on Friday, September 16th after a remodel with a brand new, modern design that includes a completely open kitchen.

Cafe Rio attributes the continued demand for additional locations due to their commitment to freshness and making every single meal from scratch. The company adheres to a strict “no freezers and no microwaves” policy. Over the years, Cafe Rio has won hundreds of awards including the 2015 coveted title “#1 Mexican Restaurant in the country,” by the prestigious Sandelman & Associates for the 7th consecutive year. FastCasual.com recently selected Cafe Rio Mexican Grill as one of the top brands in its annual list of Top 100 Movers and Shakers.
