ISDC 2017 to be hosted in St. Louis, Missouri by St. Louis Space Frontier

San Juan, Puerto Rico (MMD Newswire) May 23, 2016 — Today at the 2016 International Space Development Conference (ISDC 2016) Gala in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Ken Money, President of the National Space Society (of the United States), announced that the ISDC 2017 will be hosted by the Saint Louis Space Frontier at the St. Louis Union Station Hotel, a Doubletree by Hilton in St Louis, Missouri May 25-29, 2017. This National Historic Landmark was selected, in part, because of the extensive renovations and addition of a Midway both accommodating the planned 1,500 attendees from around the world, a variety of activities, and abundant exhibits.

Christine Nobbe, ISDC 2017 Host Conference Chair, explained that “The theme of ISDC 2017 is In the Spirit of Exploration and Discovery. The theme derives from the St. Louis Area’s rich history of exploration and discovery such as: the Lewis & Clark Expedition, Gateway to the Westward expansion of the U.S., Native Charles Lindbergh’s first transatlantic flight, the design and development of the Mercury and Gemini spacecraft, work on a variety of other spacecraft, and continuing with NASA’s Space Launch System training system under development.”

Ken Money further explained: “There are three major activities that have occupied the time and effort of humans since the beginning of our species: increasing our comfort and pleasure, increasing our numbers (now seven and a half billions), and having conflicts between groups. In 1961 we started a new kind of activity: Space Exploration. We are taking our first steps for using the resources of space, off Earth, and for expanding our civilization off Earth. All humans can look outward and do this together.”
