Leadership Executive Comes Out of Closet Professionally to announce run for for US Congress

December 22, 2015 (MMD Newswire) — Executive leadership coach and celebrity speaker Troy Arthur Bonar Congressional hopeful in Texas comes out of closet professionally as he announces his bid to seek nomination as the Libertarian Candidate or the US House of Representatives District 19

Troy formally announced over the weekend at a small gathering of his close friends, family and business colleagues.

“This is a big change for everyone” reflects Troy. “I never intended to be running for public office, I always thought…Let someone else have the hassle and spotlight of politics, I will be the silent support.” Smiling he continued, ” but sitting by while the world spins out of control is not in my nature. I have a passion and desire to see the democratic principles of our great nation succeed. We don’t see enough people stepping into the service of others. I am willing to serve the people because I share the frustration, concerns, fears, and the anger just like you. It is time, the urgency could not be more clear that we need something different. I knew it was time to step up and work on a larger scale to help protect you and your rights. “

When asked if he feels that his coming out will be an issue? Troy reflected, “I hope so, but it is not really about me, it is about the people I represent. It is about their friends, co workers, sisters, brothers, sons and daughters, family and neighbors.We are all living in the same reality. People can’t continue to ignore the facts and continue to harm others.”

When asked about his activity in the community while staying closeted professionally, Troy took the opportunity to simplify the way we should look at orientation, race, religion, age, height, weight or even sports team preference.” I know it is odd, but there are many out there who have similar circumstances. Only a few close friends and family knew or cared enough about my lifestyle. I think it had a lot to do with my time in the Military when you could still get kicked out for identifying a different orientation or just going to a place of business. People understood the need for safety at that time. I believe in keeping your work or mission focused. The military was a great example, when it came to the mission we were all together and had a bond like no other, but when the mission was over, we respected our differences and lived as individuals of different backgrounds and beliefs.”

Troy’s teaching nature became apparent as he continued, “When you get distracted by someone else’s belief system or way of life outside of the details of the task or project, we lose operational excellence. In other words, if you are good at your job you are not allowing distractions to take away from your interactions with professionals, customers or any others who could impact the mission. I want people to get beyond labels and treat each other as human beings.”

“I didn’t want to be “The Gay Candidate” but people may make uneducated political decisions because of their misunderstanding about who I am and how I can serve them in Congress.” Mr. Bonar outlined the simple truth, “We all live our lives a little different, differnet travel, different food, different clothes, different music, but in the end, we are all very much the same, facing challenges daily to clothe and feed our family, provide good education, make a living wage, save for the future, develop ourselves spiritually, and create lasting quality relationships with those around us. This year is a momentous year for steps toward equality. My stepping out in a leadership role is another way for me to honor those who have struggled, fought, given of their time, resources, heart and soul to take us to the next level of human greatness and global responsibility.”

This contentious race is for one of the important house seats being vacated by the retiring Republican Randy Naugebauer. Having more of the third party libertarians in congress would change the dynamics of the current two party politics considerably.

Troy Arthur Bonar and spouse David McDonald Bonar together 14 years were the first to be denied a marriage license in Taylor County, Texas after the Historic Supreme Court ruling of 2015 and became one of the first same gender couples to file their license.

” The government shouldn’t be in the marriage business, but they made their bed and now they need to own it or fix it.” Troy explains, “We need equality for Humans, that is the true spirit of freedom and the constitution, no person should be denied the equal protections of basic human rights!”

Troy and David have been a strong continuous support for the LBGTQ community the past 20 years, Troy is also a member of the “Outright Libertarians” a USAF Veteran, author, and food, film & entertainment critic.
