Success Academy Open House Draws Over 1,000 Guests

Brand-new tuition-free Indiana public school hosts first open house for community.

SOUTH BEND, IN (MMD Newswire) August 11, 2015 — In preparation for the start of the 2015-2016 school year, Success Academy, a brand-new K-6 grade school in South Bend, hosted an open house to give the public the opportunity to tour the new school building and learn more about a project-based learning approach to education. The new school is the elementary school of Career Academy, a 7-12 grade school, also in South Bend.

Saturday, August 8th, over 1,000 people from the surrounding communities came to the new Success Academy facility at 3408 Ardmore Trail in South Bend. Local families have been seeing construction over the previous months and finally had the opportunity to visit and learn more. Success Academy principals and staff gave tours to guests, answered questions about the school, and assisted families in completing enrollment applications. With the new school year so close, enrollment at both schools has continued to fill up and is near capacity.

Guests of the Success Academy open house enjoyed hot dogs and snow cones after seeing the facility and learning about the upcoming school year. Children had their photo taken with the Success Academy Hero mascot and were able to wear capes as they toured the school. There were raffle items given away, including a backpack filled with school supplies for each grade level, Cedar Point tickets, and custom outdoor fire pits designed and built by Career Academy welding program students.

The new Success Academy is being opened in response to continued growth at Career Academy and the desire to offer younger students a similar high-quality and tuition-free education. By serving Kindergarten through 6th grade, students will have many exciting opportunities in their education they may otherwise miss, all in an innovative learning environment that promotes critical thinking and creativity.
