Noah’s Flood: Has the World's Oldest Puzzle Finally Been Cracked?

New book ‘The Real Noah’s Flood’ clears the way to honest scientific answers about one of Earth’s oldest and most intriguing mysteries

The biblical story of Noah’s ark has captured the imagination of humankind for centuries. It has been the subject of countless theological and scientific controversies, not to mention a seemingly endless stream of books and, in more recent decades, films and other entertainment media. From a historic and scientific perspective, the central controversy surrounding the Noah’s ark tale is whether or not the story, as told in the Bible, really occurred. And if it did, where is the evidence? Grayson’s book puts a whole new spin on the matter and is sure to give rise to yet more controversy.

“‘The Real Noah’s Flood’ takes a radical new view of Earth’s ancient history,” explains Grayson. “It shows how popular and religious versions of events simply do not mesh with wider historic records or genuine scientific findings. But it also shows how history, archaeology, oceanography and the fossil record match perfectly when all previous beliefs and theories are separated from genuine, scientifically verifiable facts.”

Grayson says the major problem encountered when researching ancient (or even modern) mysteries is that humans seem to have an inherent need to use theories and beliefs to interpret findings, rather than modifying their theories and beliefs to fit with historic facts and scientific findings. We do things exactly backwards, in other words. “Is it any wonder,” he asks, “that the Western world is still arguing over Earth’s ancient history?”

He is quick to add that he has no quarrel with faith or religion in general, as it obviously fills a human need. Religions present their own version of the “truth.” “But,” insists Grayson, “only cold, hard, scientific facts can offer that non-contradictable truth which stands supreme, fearless of all challenges.” That’s a pretty bold statement, but he isn’t trying to make the case that science is infallible; he simply believes that a multi-disciplinary scientific approach to an issue such as the Noah’s flood conundrum is the best way to get to the truth.

Grayson firmly believes that a new worldview of our planet’s ancient history is long overdue and can break the deadlock and endless controversy between mainstream evolutionary theory and religious factions. “But separating genuine scientific reality from belief, is in effect, separating fact from fiction,” he says.

He says that a 1930s classic by Dr. Robert Thouless, “Straight and Crooked Thinking,” actually resolved this eons-old dilemma. Though many modern readers have never heard of this work, Grayson highly recommends it as a primer in fallacious thinking. “Thouless exposed the subtle dishonesty within many of our thinking patterns, a dishonesty that causes endless problems,” Grayson says. “We are too quick to believe what we want to believe, often without honest, substantive evidence.”

Grayson’s own “new worldview,” outlined in “The Real Noah’s Flood,” is the result of years of focused research into earth’s ancient history, geology, the fossil record and other associated disciplines. His research connects hundreds of ancient historic records with many otherwise bewildering modern archaeological discoveries. “To my knowledge,” he says, “this is the first completely comprehensive worldview, fitting all associated disciplines together in a unique and specific way and solving previous dilemmas.”

An interdisciplinary approach is crucial because, as Grayson explains, “Any puzzle is only complete when every piece fits correctly, and with no missing pieces. Sadly, many archaeological finds are not displayed because modern museums cannot fit them into their chosen current themes and theories. And likewise, ancient religious worldviews cannot scientifically answer many other puzzling conundrums. Where the Noah’s flood story is concerned, I’m hoping to fill in some of these knowledge gaps with my book.”

Grayson’s interest in geology and associated disciplines was, as he puts it, “genetically inherited from a family connected to the oil exploration industry.” He elaborates, “Striking productive oil in Taranaki, New Zealand, in 1949 provided a never-ending topic of conversation around our planet’s geological structure and potential oil finds. This also fuelled a wider connection with history, archaeology, oceanography, volcanology and so on. My research has been extensive, encompassing all associated fields and current worldviews.”

He believes that while the viewpoint presented in his book may shock many, those searching for honest answers will find them in this simple but comprehensive work. Grayson hopes his efforts will also open a floodgate (so to speak) of new opportunity for other researchers to reinterpret history in “a more comprehensive, interconnective, and ultimately irrefutable” way.

“I hope,” Grayson says, “that ‘The Real Noah’s Flood’ gives people the courage to get out there and help to rewrite history in an unashamed manner, just as Galileo did in his day. That’s the only way we can finally resolve our oldest and most bewildering dilemmas.”
