Innovators Of Future Awarded At Mef Schools, Istanbul
MEF Educational Institutions 24th International Science Projects Contest concluded with an awards ceremony on May 8, 2015 at MEF Schools’ Ulus Campus, Istanbul, Turkey. In the international category finals, students from Lithuania, Slovenia and Bulgaria were awarded in the areas of physics, chemistry and biology, respectively.
In the domestic categories, Kuleli Military High School in physics and biology and Izmir Applied Sciences High School in chemistry received jury’s special awards.
Istanbul (MMD Newswire) May 8, 2015 — MEF Educational Institutions announced the winning projects of 24th International Science Projects Contest. Among a total of 1434 participating high school students and 771 innovative projects, 25 international and 66 domestic projects qualified for finals. In this year’s contest; mechanical heat, thermodynamics, and applied optics in microorganisms were the focus areas in innovations.
Demonstrated and presented to public and the jury at MEF University Campus starting on May 5th, 2015, this year’s innovations emphasized scientific methodologies that are more based on observation techniques and creativity. In the past 3 days, 163 high school students have presented 91 distinct innovative projects to the jury, who believes that the vast majority this year’s innovations are immediately applicable to business and industry.
One of the largest high school science contests in the world, MEF’s 24th International Science Contest included a wide range innovations, from facial expression controlled mechanical arms to special mine ventilation systems, from extra durable cement panels resistant against explosions to next-gen fuel batteries, from new curing methods against cancer to new treatments of upper respiratory infections diseases, and from innovative new foods for diabetic patients to new methodologies applicable against the treatment of the Alzheimer disease.
Including students from Turkey, 163 participants from Albania, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Northern Cyprus, Dubai, Georgia, Hungary, Kirgizstan, Kosovo, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malaysia, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Sweden, and Turkmenistan, competed in the fields of physics, chemistry, and biology for the top spots.
