Royal Caribbean Cruises has a quest to develop unique and unusual dining options at sea. Their newest entry is a virtual train ride in a mixed-reality dining experience, planned for the Utopia of the Seas, which will be delivered next June. A dining car that resembles a train will use some real train parts, steam and a train platform. Once inside, guests will look out the train windows to see footage from the American West, France, the Baltics, and other destinations gliding past. Food offerings will match the location. Trains go through tunnels moving magically from destination to destination. The reasons people book a cruise are for the destination and the food. The dining car concept can satisfy both of those desires. Windows feature the countryside or cityscapes of various destinations showing authentic footage. During holiday sailings, a large man in a red coat might make an appearance fixing his sleigh. Royal Caribbean Cruises says this new experience is a window into the world through a train car. Oceania Cruise News – New Ship Vista By Oceania

Opulent – Guilded – Luxury; These words describe the brand new 1200-passenger Vista by Oceania Cruises. The ship was designed with bigger bathrooms and a 10-to-1 – 1 guest-to-chef ratio. The Vista is easy to navigate, has that luxurious feel and the service is terrific.
Back to the bathrooms; three people can fit in the shower. The room has a large, attractive, circular mirror with a built-in touch-sensor light, five drawers, an under-the-sink ledge, and a three-shelf mirrored medicine cabinet.
Other design features include an eye-catching abstract art installation stretching two decks high in the atrium. Hundreds of identical pieces that look like glass or ice hang from the ceiling in the shape of a concave tunnel, illuminated with shades of white light that shift every two seconds. Public spaces on the Vista are simple, subtle and use clean lines.
The Toscana Restaurant is designed with simple curves in its partitions and a playful mosaic of birds made of small tiles. The Embers Restaurant also boasts concave curves. The high-brick-like ceilings are curved, creating a feeling of being in a down-to-earth steakhouse serving classic American fare. Other new features focus on food and beverage. The Founders Bar offers complex drinks, including some topped with vapor bubbles of citrus and mixed berry, for a boost of aroma. Barista, a popular coffee spot, includes a bakery serving quiches and pastries. The Aquamar Restaurant serves casual ‘ wellness fare’ such as energy bowls, smoothies, banana pancakes and mocktails.
Oceania’s focus on cuisine led to a more significant culinary center with high ceilings and 24 stations for cooking classes and lectures. Oceania also offers 65 culinary tours across the brand.

Oceania’s Vista is similar to the Regent brand in luxury, with the biggest difference being whether guests want an a la carte experience or the all-inclusive experience that Regent offers.
