When Politics Becomes A “Disguised” False Gospel
Regardless of one’s acknowledgment of God, the inescapable truth is that man is inherently religious. By “religious” here, I’m simply saying we all have ultimate concerns. So, even in the denial of God, we still operate within the framework of God’s categories… truth, law, morality, and meaning.
This is a profound revelation that sheds light on the spiritual origins of societal and cultural structures. If God’s sovereignty is rejected, we simply transfer that sovereignty to ourselves or the civil government. The concept of total planning or predestination doesn’t vanish. Nope, it’s just repackaged as central control, often under the banner of scientific socialism or government bureaucracy.
Even salvation, a core religious concept, does not disappear in a secular world. If it’s not found in Christ, it is relocated to the government or some humanistic order. Modern political ideologies and social programs promise a form of redemption, freedom, and new life, offering the same hope that the church once proclaimed, albeit now through human effort rather than divine grace.
Two Cultures… Two Cities
Scripture shows us that from the beginning, two distinct cultures have existed. God established a holy culture, the City of God, beginning with Adam’s descendants through Seth, continuing through Noah, Abraham, Moses, and ultimately fulfilled in Christ.
This culture is built on faith, covenant, and the redemptive work of God. The other culture, the City of Man, is the culture of Satan, born in Eden when Adam and Eve tried to become like God. Its growth is traced through Babel and continues today in every humanistic system that seeks unity, power, and salvation apart from God.
This is the “Satanic Culture” … born in Eden when Adam and Eve tried to become like God. Its growth is traced through Babel and continues today in every humanistic system that seeks unity, power, and salvation apart from God.
Covering Guilt with Institutions
After the Fall, Adam and Eve tried to cover their guilt with fig leaves… symbolic of mankind’s ongoing attempt to create false atonement. The Hebrew word for “cover” is also used for “atonement,” highlighting a profound truth: humans always seek some form of covering for their guilt. Guilt, in this context, refers to the deep-seated moral responsibility that arises when our actions transgress against divine or societal norms.
Sometimes it’s through religion, sometimes through politics, and often through institutions. The deeper the guilt, the more elaborate the structure—whether in courts, welfare systems, or global alliances like the United Nations.
In modern thought, guilt is no longer a personal matter. It’s projected onto the environment, social structures, or heredity. Judges, social workers, and activists usually shift blame from the individual to society.
This shift in blame is what we can call a “theology of victimhood,” where failure is rewarded and success is penalized. This worldview permeates foreign aid policies, education systems, and race relations, all of which treat guilt as a societal defect rather than a personal moral failing.
The Religious Core of the State
Today’s secular politics are no less religious. In fact, it’s extremely religious but in a different direction. It assumes the government can solve sin by organizing or orchestrating humanity correctly. This is a false gospel. Where the church once preached repentance and transformation through Christ, modern governments promise salvation through social leveling, bureaucratic planning, and various forms of secular providence. But when man takes God’s throne, the results are always despair, tyranny, and collapse.
One of the fathers of modern public school education, John Dewey, was spot on in saying that Christianity is undemocratic. Yep, it separates sheep from goats, the saved from the lost. The gospel divides because grace cannot be earned or legislated. In contrast, humanism demands the erasure of all distinctions between good and evil, saved and lost, truth and error, in the name of unity and inclusion.
Satanic Culture’s False Promises
At its heart, Satanic Culture makes four promises. First, it tells man he is not guilty of anything. His problems are someone else’s fault—God’s, nature’s, society’s. Second, it promises that man should not have to be morally accountable to anyone. A true secular culture, they claim, should eliminate the need for sacrifice, character, or moral struggle.
Third, it seeks to make it impossible for anyone to sin. When’s the last time you heard anyone on Fox News, for example, talk about sin? And finally, it demands a society where no one can fail. All must succeed, all must pass, all must be supported by the system—whether they work or not. Even school testing is now seen by some as cruel, and failure is somehow unjust.
In this culture, the government becomes messianic. The government’s task should then be to eliminate hunger and hardship, as well as serve as the arbitrator of good and evil. It attempts to erase the consequences of sin by denying its existence altogether. This vision is attractive to the masses because it promises a world of security and ease, but there’s a price to be paid for a counterfeit paradise. The real cost is dependency, delusion, and dehumanization.
Babel and the Blueprint for Modern Globalism
The Tower of Babel was the first full expression of this culture of falsehood. After the flood, humanity again tried to build a unified city apart from God. “Let us build a city,” they said—a religious declaration in ancient cultures where city and deity were intertwined. Babel was a call for one humanity, one voice, one god—mankind himself.
The tower was a stepped pyramid, symbolizing the ladder of human achievement. It visually declared that man could climb to heaven through his own effort. It rejected the Creator-creature distinction and proposed instead that God and man share the same essence. (an old Classical concept) In such a world, God is not Lord… He’s at best an older brother.
They declared, “Let us make us a name”—a Shem, a definition, a self-determined identity. Instead of receiving definition from God, man sought to define himself. This rejection of divine naming was not just a form of rebellion, but a seismic shift in societal structure, a claim to autonomy, and a rejection of deity.
Their final fear was being scattered. Division was the great evil, not rebellion against God. Today’s one-world movements and institutions, such as the World Economic Forum and United Nations, share this vision: that unity at all costs, rather than truth or righteousness, is the ultimate good. But unity without truth leads to tyranny. Babel’s judgment was not just destruction… it was mercy. God confused their language to protect humanity from the nightmare of totalitarianism.
The Battle Between Two Cities
This is the war at the heart of history… the City of God versus the City of Man. It’s not just a political or cultural conflict. It’s a stark contrast in theological beliefs. One city looks to Christ as Redeemer and builds a society of responsibility, confession, and grace. The other looks to man as a redeemer and creates a culture of blame-shifting, control, and false peace. The urgency of this choice should be obvious in 2025.
In the end, the City of Man cannot stand. Babylon the Great will fall. It matters little if Democrats or Republicans are propping it up. Christians are called to take a different path, to refuse the false promises of Government salvation, and to build their lives and communities around the Lordship of Christ.
We have to always ask ourselves: In whose image are we remaking the world? Are we raising our children, shaping our institutions, and ordering our lives after the Word of God? Or are we following the siren song of Political Babel, trying to make a name for ourselves and our country without Him?
The line has been drawn. One city leads to life. The other judgment. Choose your city.
