So Much Happening & I'm Behind In Writing About All Of It!!
I can’t believe it’s been almost 3 quarters of a month since I broke my leg and my writing pretty much stopped.
I was sleeping so much. And then in the last week I’ve had 2 visitors, first Paradigm and then Sleep! So suddenly I was busy at the same time I was recovering (rather well, slowly but surely) and there was no quiet time to write and reflect and all that.
I have a LOT of writing to do for the next couple of weeks!
The intention is to catch up what all has been going on, because it has been a busy few weeks…
Where to start? There’s so much going on!
Well, here’s a short quickie version of the last 3 weeks:
~ I’ve been getting around using a wheelchair mostly because the pain and discomfort of my broken foot was too much to deal with and I’ve been too damned tired and weak-feeling to attempt to use the walker or crutches. I’m starting to come back a little at last and Cat helped me buy an i-Walk, which basically is a peg-leg crutch for broken feet. It will take some getting used to, but my goal is to be on that thing and more mobile by June. I’ll be in a cast until August!! There goes my summer, right? So, I’m really hoping I can get some normalcy with my i-Walk thing and yes, I will include pics of this! There will also be pics of my broken foot for the morbidly curious forthcoming soon in backdated entries.
~ My roomies have been coordinating helping me out at the beginning of my healing while I had pain and mobility issues. Cat has been GREAT and totally helpful. Tess has… NOT. I pretty much have to chase her down to get her help and she leaves on days when I need her. More drama from that to be elaborated upon soon. But it led to a stand off between her and I with a bottle of whiskey and some gritty hashing out of issues. [More below!]
~ Paradigm, a long-time LJ friend, finally came and met me face to face! Despite my lack of ability to do much, we hit a few restaurants and had a couple of drives– going north to drive thru the unique Port Gamble, and one very pretty 3 hour loop around Kitsap Peninsula and parts of the Olympic Peninsula in particular was fun. I also introduced him to Stranger Things, Season 1, which he liked and we talked and talked about various and sundry. It was a great visit and we settled into a companionable comforting mutual ease pretty quickly. (I guess when you read one another’s diaries, the awkward stuff is pretty much covered and moot!)
~ Sleep is currently here. He helped with yard work again and is now peacefully relaxing. He’ll be taking off tomorrow. He’s been around to witness some roomie drama, which is highly uncomfortable to me because it seems like about every other time he visits, there are roomie issues popping up. When normally things are pretty peaceful between all of us, so his impression must be that we fight a lot here!
~ Speaking of fights… when Tess and I hashed things out with some clear talking and whiskey, it let to the conclusion that she is better off moving OUT of Heron Hold! She’s falling into the role of “rebellious teenager” while living with us and it’s not working. She wants to feel “free” and independent for once (she’s always lived with her parents or boyfriends, never alone) and so now that she’s making full time money, I told her I’d help her budget for either a studio or 1-bedroom if living alone is her goal. I said, “Let’s help you get what you need and that’ll give us time to find a new roomie who wants the “family” thing Cat and I are trying for here.”
~ Now I need to see if she follows up sober with what we hashed out while drinking. (Not a lot. No headache or anything the next day. We just did a couple of shots and loosened up enough to just fucking face off.) If she’s sincerely going to work with us to get what she needs (a place of her own) we can help her transition out peacefully, and maybe Tess will feel like being friends again with me, instead of so defensive like she’s been since she moved in here. She agreed (last night) to TALK to us TRUTHFULLY and work shit out day to day instead of keeping silent and being all resentful when she’s asked for help. So… that’ll take time to see if it changes anything. I certainly hope so!
I’ll go back and fill in some of the more noteworthy days as well, but this is the gist of where I’m at currently. More to come soon!
