Chicago Bears rookie Colston Loveland gets big surprise amid NFL offseason

Chicago Bears rookie Colston Loveland received an unexpected surprise amid the NFL offseason. The 21-year-old tight end grew up in a small town in Idaho. He spent much of his youth working on his family’s farm and playing football. While at Gooding High School, he became Idaho’s No. 1 football player and won the 2021-22 Gatorade Player of the Year.

His early experiences taught him discipline and a grounded approach to life. Loveland carried these lessons to Michigan, where he became a top tight end. In 2023, he earned first-team All-Big Ten honors and helped the Michigan Wolverines win the national championship.

Loveland was selected 10th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft by the Bears. In his rookie season, he recorded 58 catches for 713 yards and six touchdowns. This helped the Bears capture their first NFC North title since 2018 and their first playoff win since 2011.

Standing 6-foot-6 and weighing 240 pounds, Loveland quickly became a key offensive weapon for the Bears. After an impressive 2025 season, he earned the Bears’ Rookie of the Year award and emerged as a top NFL talent.

Loveland recently received a big surprise — a peek at a hoodie personalized for him, which fans can win. The custom hoodie was created by Bay Area graphics designer and content creator Kate Weinberg, known online as @kweinbydesign. 

In an Instagram post on Saturday, Weinberg unveiled the hoodie as part of a Jersey Mike’s Subs collaboration. She said her design reflects Loveland’s Idaho roots and his NFL journey.

“For this design, I wanted to combine Colston’s roots growing up in a small town in Idaho and working on his grandpa’s farm with his rise in the NFL,” Weinberg noted. “This bandana pattern allowed me to integrate a lot of details, even including his high school and college numbers, as well as the Idaho state flower, the syringa, into the design to make this piece extra personal for him.”

Loveland looked surprised when Weinberg showed him the hoodie. “For me? Wow,” he said. Weinberg told him, “It has a bunch of different little nods to your hometown (and) football. I did a lot of research.” Loveland replied, “You did… This is sweet. Thank you, you’re awesome.”

According to Weinberg, Loveland loved the hoodie and even asked if he could keep it for himself.

“I didn’t get it on camera, but he even asked if he got to keep it and made sure someone on his team had it when he left, which was just so amazing,” she revealed.

Weinberg added she could not have asked for a better reaction. Loveland signed the hoodie for the giveaway winner before he left.

To enter the giveaway, fans must follow Jersey Mike’s on Instagram and comment “JERSEY MIKES” on Weinberg’s post. The prize includes the signed hoodie and a $300 gift card.
