Chicago Bears’ Ben Johnson has sharp lesson for team after beating Packers
The 24-15 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Nov. 28 might be the most impressive win for the Chicago Bears this season, but Saturday night’s win over the Green Bay Packers was the important.

The win over their NFC North rival gave the Bears a 1.5-game lead in division with two games to go in the regular season. If the Detroit Lions lose to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Chicago is guaranteed a spot in the playoffs.
Following the game, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur and Bears head coach Ben Johnson suggested Saturday night’s game has a playoff-like element to it.
The Chicago Bears are ramping up for the postseason

Johnson noted the Bears needed to beat the Packers in a playoff-like atmosphere, as most of the roster has little-to-no postseason experience. Chicago needs to play in these pressure-packed games before January.
“It’s good for our entire team,” Johnson said, via Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times. “We have a lot of guys that don’t have playoff experience or don’t have meaningful-games-in-December experience. It’s a little bit foreign territory for a number of them.
“We talk about keeping our poise and what it takes to win these games, and we’re going to continue to get better and learn how to handle them.”
No one can argue the Bears played their best against Green Bay. While the defense was able to get a few crucial stops in the red zone, they allowed backup quarterback Malik Willis to win the time of possession battle, keeping Chicago’s offense from taking advantage of Jordan Love being out with concussion in the first half.
Trailing 16-6 late in the fourth quarter, the Bears took advantage of several lucky breaks to send the game into overtime, including being the recipient of a facemask penalty on 3rd-and-20 before finishing a drive with a field goal to pull within seven.
Then came an onside kick recovery that allowed the Bears to tie the game via a touchdown pass on 4th-and-goal.
Ben Johnson’s team fights

Chicago wants to be better for the postseason, but they know they need to battle for 60 minutes like they did on Saturday if they hope to advance to play later in January or… February.
“(General manager Ryan Poles) has done a great job bringing this collection of people together,” Johnson said. “They’re mentally tough. They’re physically tough. We’re going to fight you for 60 minutes, and a game like that, even though the odds are against us that late, we’re going to keep on swinging and make some plays.”
Tough challenges won’t go away for the rest of the season and postseason. The Bears will travel to play the 10-4 San Francisco 49ers in Week 16. They’ll finish the regular season against the Detroit Lions.
