Three Jets who deserve praise for Week 10 Win vs the Browns
On Sunday, the New York Jets returned from their bye week to take on the Cleveland Browns at MetLife Stadium. This game comes two weeks removed from the Jets’ win against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Jets’ win over the Bengals gave them their first win of the season, ending their seven-game losing skid. Now, the Jets looked to build off that win against the Browns. Thankfully for the Jets and more importantly, their fans, they did just that, albeit not the prettiest.
This game marked the Jets’ second win of the season, giving them a 2-7 record. Fields had a rough game, completing only six of his 11 pass attempts for 54 yards. It’s unclear how the Jets can win a game when their quarterback completes only six passes, but Jets fans will take it. Even though it was an ugly win, these three Jets players deserve praise following the game. Here are three game balls, one for each aspect of the game.
Offense: Breece Hall, RB
On the offensive side of things, Breece Hall had himself an incredible day. Hall had the kind of game that brought fans back to his rookie season. He had the kind of game that was expected of him heading into this year. After starting the season with 107 yards on the ground in Week 1, it wasn’t until Week 5 that he would once again cross the century mark on the ground. Hall also has been quiet on the receiving side of things, up until now, which isn’t entirely his fault.
“Breece Hall isn’t gonna try today because the Jets refused to trade him”
That’s what clowns said.

He finished his Sunday with 83 yards on 21 rushing attempts, which led the team. However, Hall also led the team as a receiver, hauling in one reception for 42 yards and a touchdown. Hall set the tone for the Jets on the ground in this one, especially when their quarterback wasn’t able to do much, airing out the ball. However, the biggest play of the game for Hall came early in the fourth quarter.

Hall ran down the field until the Jets got to the 42-yard line. There, Fields found Hall for a short pass, which Hall turned into a long gain, to get the Jets into the endzone. This touchdown gave the Jets the lead in the fourth and ultimately put the game away in their favor. Hall played the ultimate piece of offense in this, ruling every aspect of the game. Sunday was another reminder that Breece Hall needs to remain a focal point in this offense and needs to be a Jet long-term. Extend Breece Hall.
Defense: Will McDonald IV, DE
Entering this game, the third-year defensive end had only three sacks in eight games after racking up 10.5 in his second campaign. However, McDonald had an absolute monster of a game, getting to Dillon Gabriel four times, making light work of the Cleveland offensive line. The four sacks by McDonald tied a Jets franchise record. His regular-season sack total now stands at 7.0. He’s 3.5 shy of tying his career high from last season.
The common theme among McDonald’s four sacks on Sunday was that the edge rusher showed a relentless motor to get after the quarterback. His determination and athleticism were on full display throughout all four quarters. McDonald has always been a streaky edge rusher. He’ll have games in which sacks come in bunches, but he will also have long stretches in which sacks are hard to come by, and McDonald’s impact isn’t as pronounced as it should be.

It wasn’t just McDonald who stood out for New York’s defense in Sunday’s win. In their first game without two All-Pros in Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams, the Jets provided hope that they could be just fine in the long run. However, McDonald was the leader of the Jets’ defensive unit. In a passing league, sacks take precedence. That was evident on Sunday, when McDonald demonstrated his ability to take over a game and make the difference in a close victory. If he continues his hot play, the Jets and their fans have a lot to be excited about going forward.
Special Teams: Isaiah Williams, PR
When the New York Jets brought back wide receiver and return specialist Isaiah Williams last month, many fans were understandably confused and upset. The move made no sense to most. After all, this was the same player whose early-season blunders helped cost the Jets games, the same one who was cut after repeated special teams miscues. Yet Aaron Glenn remained loyal to his former Lions receiver. The first-year head coach, who once worked with Williams in Detroit, saw something others didn’t. And now, he looks vindicated.

In the first quarter of Sunday’s matchup with the Cleveland Browns, that faith paid off spectacularly. Williams took a punt 74 yards to the house, erupting down the field for the first touchdown of his career. It was a moment of redemption for Williams, and for Glenn, it was proof that belief in his players can still pay off. Williams’ Week 10 resurgence didn’t come out of nowhere. He’s been steadily earning back trust since his second stint began, flashing reliability and versatility in ways that once seemed unthinkable.
The Jets cycled through return options with Kene Nwangwu, who also returned a kick for a touchdown in Week 10, temporarily sidelined. Williams has been the one to stick, as he’s stabilized the return game and even injected much-needed juice into an offense desperate for playmakers. Williams finished with five punt returns for a total of 126 yards, averaging 25.2 yards per return. In a game where field position was so important, Williams set the tone.
