Underrated Chicago Bears veteran WR is standing out at OTAs

One surprise veteran is making an early case to be a difficult player for the Chicago Bears to cut at the end of training camp.
The Bears appeared to be set at the position with starters DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, and Luther Burden III. Tyler Scott, Olamide Zaccheaus, and Devin Duvernay seemed like the most likely options to keep on the 53-man roster.
But Miles Boykin, whom the Bears signed in April, has shown he’s more than a camp body during the first two OTAs open to the media in May. Last week, Den Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune reported that the pass of the day came on a deep ball from Tyson Bagent to Boykin.
The Chicago Bears have a surprise WR balling out
The pass of the day on Wednesday was via a connection on a deep ball from Caleb Williams to Boykin. Per Zack Pearson of Bear Report, the throw was impressive during an otherwise poor day from the offense and Williams.
“Not a strong day for the first team offense,” Pearson posted on X. “Williams was picked off twice. Both over the middle. Tremaine Edmunds made a nice play and got the INT. Later on, he was picked off by Jaquan Brisker (might have been tipped). Caleb did make a nice throw in 6-on-7 drill later rolling to the left and hit Miles Boykin deep.”

Miles Boykin could be a surprise in 2025
Boykin was a promising prospect out of Notre Dame when the Baltimore Ravens selected him in the third round of the 2019 draft. The six-foot-four, 222-pound receiver lasted three seasons in Baltimore before he was released in April of 2022. He spent two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Boykin has recorded 38 receptions for 498 yards and seven touchdowns in his NFL career. He spent 2024 on the practice squads of the New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks.
The native of Tinley Park, Illinois, might make a home with Chicago in 2025 if he stays a reliable target for Williams throughout training camp.
