Chicago White Sox: One top prospect’s hot start might net him a promotion

The winds seemed to have shifted for the Chicago White Sox after looking great to open the season, to now falling back into their old ways and once again looking like the worst team in baseball.
The White Sox have dropped back-to-back series to the Minnesota Twins and Detriot Tigers, dropping their series finale against the Tigers in a walk-off hit by Spencer Torkelson.
If things couldn’t get worse for the White Sox, leftfielder Andrew Benintendi left yesterday’s game with a left adductor tightness. This latest injury for Benintendi comes after he broke his hand during spring training.
Benintendi’s status is day-to-day, but depending on the seriousness of the injury, this could be something to monitor.
Even the White Sox are in turmoil there’s a prospect down on the farm who is hitting the cover off the ball and needs to be called up to help usher in some success.
It is time for the Chicago White Sox to call up this top prospect
It’s only the beginning of the season, but the White Sox are on pace to get close to their loss record with how they’ve been playing.
The White Sox offense is stagnant and is struggling to score runs and their starting pitching has taken a dramatic turn since their first go-around when they almost set a record for their starters not allowing an earned run to start a season.
Since the White Sox are struggling to score and Andrew Benintendi is the sole source of the Sox offense, it might be time for the front office to consider calling up Chase Meidroth, who is on a tear down at Charlotte and is proving he’s deserving of getting a call-up to help the offense.
Meidroth is coming off spring training, where he didn’t find his ability to hit, slashing .146/.300/.171 in 17 games but having nine walks.
Thankfully those struggles didn’t carry over to the regular season, as the White Sox’s number-eight prospect is slashing .333/.500/.750 for an eye-dropping 1.250 OPS.
Meidroth kept the good times rolling for himself and propelled the Knights to another win after he went 3-for-3 with a two-run homer and scored four runs in the win over Norfolk.
“3-for-3 with a 2-run homer, 2 RBI, 2 walks, and 4 runs scored. What a day for Chase Meidroth!

The White Sox need to embrace their youth
It’s crazy how much better the White Sox Triple-A affiliate is compared to the big league team, but they are.
Meidroth has nothing else to prove down at the minor-league level and deserves a chance to make a name for himself at the major-league level.
If Meidroth were to get the call-up, a casualty on the roster could be infielder Jacob Amaya, who is currently getting the bulk of the starting reps at shortstop.
Amaya, to start the year is off to a dreadful start, hitting .100 in 20 at-bats, and striking out four times.
For the White Sox to stand a chance this season playing their young players will be key.
