Under his old deal, he was set to hit free agency in 2026, but now the Reds have locked him in through 2027, with a chance to keep him around even longer if they pick up that option. Smart move, Cincy—good teammates and good people aren’t always easy to find.
For Trevino, this is nothing but a win. He gets some well-deserved financial security, a fanbase that already appreciates his energy, and, let’s be real, a much friendlier hitter’s park than Yankee Stadium. And for the Reds? They get a defensive wizard behind the plate, a clubhouse leader, and a guy who absolutely deserves every bit of this extension.
