Best Player Prop Bets for Ravens-Browns

Mark Andrews signals TD as he sits in the end zone in Cleveland.

Remember when the Ravens were 0-2? I don’t. There were some outlandish takes coming out of Baltimore after that Week 2 loss as an uneasy feeling was circulating around the city (the Orioles getting swept in the playoffs for the second year in row around that same time certainly had something to do with it). But now here we are, heading into a Week 8 tilt with the Cleveland Browns looking a 6th straight victory. A win in Cleveland on Sunday would allow the Ravens to keep pace with the big dogs in the AFC, while also giving them a 2-0 record within the division. At this point in the season, Lamar Jackson is the MVP favorite and Derrick Henry is the favorite for offensive player of the year. Soak it in Ravens flock, we’re witnessing some legendary stuff right now.

We’re also doing a great job profiting from this team as a 4-1 week last week brought our overall player prop bet record to 27-8. Cleveland boasts one of the better defenses the Ravens will face this season, so if the offense can keep building off their recent success here on Sunday, that’s a great sign of things to come. No defense has been able to effectively neutralize this iteration of the Ravens offense, and we haven’t been given any reason to believe that will happen any time soon.

In an important AFC North matchup, here are the player props I’ll be taking on Sunday. Let’s stay hot!

Lamar Jackson 225+ Passing Yards (+130 ESPN Bet)

Plus odds for Lamar here feels like a good opportunity. The Raven’s passing offense has been in a rhythm we haven’t really seen in the Lamar Jackson era. Lamar has thrown for over 280 yards in three straight games for a multitude of reasons. For one, Lamar has his full complement of weapons and playmakers at his disposal. Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman may be the best one-two punch Lamar has had on the outside, and the Ravens seem to have another three-headed monster at tight end. Another reason Lamar has seen so much success through the air is Todd Monken. Monken has been in his bag this year, specifically in the play action passing game. Someone is open more often than not, and if they are open Lamar will find them. Cleveland’s pass defense has had some success this year, but Lamar is just simply on another level.

Mark Andrews O 29.5 Receiving Yards (-105 ESPN Bet)

After a slow start to the season, the Mark Andrews we remember is back. Lamar has referred to his connection with Andrews as “Bread and Butter,” and it’s no coincidence that Lamar’s hot stretch over the last three games we mentioned above is mirrored by his tight end. In the first four games of the season, Andrews had only 65 receiving yards and no touchdowns. Over the last three contests he has averaged 54 yards per game with three touchdowns. The passing offense took another step when they made it an effort to get Andrews more involved. I’m expecting that trend to continue Sunday with Andrews having his fourth straight productive day. Thirty receiving yards isn’t much, and that’s a ‘mark’ that could be covered in one or two chunk plays (see what I did there?)

Jameis Winston 225+ Passing Yards (-155 ESPN Bet)

It doesn’t feel right to take the over for both quarterbacks in an AFC North matchup, but the reasoning is there. The Ravens secondary as we all know has had their fair share of struggles this season, ranking dead last in the league in passing defense. Poor communication and miscues are a big reason that’s where they stand at this point. These mistakes are fixable, but this Sunday may not be the week as the Ravens will be without cornerbacks Marlon Humphrey and Nate Wiggins. This means we can expect Jalyn Armour-Davis, who just got activated off IR this week, to start opposite Brandon Stephens. This feels like a vulnerable spot for the Ravens secondary as Winston provides Cleveland with a breath of fresh air after their Deshaun Watson experience. The Ravens offense should continue to put up points, forcing Winston to have to do a lot of work through the air if the Browns want a shot at winning on Sunday.

Nick Chubb U 44.5 Rushing Yards (Even, ESPN Bet)

The Ravens boast the number 1 ranked rushing defense in the league, and Nick Chubb is still trying to find his footing as last week marked his return to action after his gruesome knee injury from a season ago. In his season debut last week, Chubb rushed for 22 yards on 11 carries against a Bengals Defense who had struggled to stop the run prior to seeing Chubb. Not much else needs to be said here as we have seen much success in fading opposing running backs up to this point. I’d be shocked if the Browns gave Chubb more than 15 carries, and if that’s the case I have confidence in the Ravens front seven to continue what they’ve done this year and make life difficult for the Chubb and the Browns rushing attack.

Rashod Bateman O 37.5 Receiving Yards (-113 FanDuel)

At the time of writing, Bateman props are not listed on ESPNBet, so we’re headed to FanDuel to bank on Bateman hitting this mark. Bateman has been playing some really good football this year. We mentioned last week how his route running has been elite this season, and he put that on full display last Monday in Tampa Bay with some filthy routes. Bateman may be asked to do a little more this week as Flowers is dealing with an ankle injury. It looks like Flowers will be good to go, but if he’s not 100%, Monken may be dialing up plays for Bateman more often than usual this week. Bateman has had four grabs in each of the last three games, averaging 83 receiving yards per game in that span. For someone with those numbers, I feel great about 37.5 here.
