“and with his stripes we are healed.”

I have questioned the meaning of this scripture for many years.  Some quoted the scripture but none ever explained how or why His stripes heal.

Finally, not long ago, I began to ask our Father what it meant.

A few days ago, while driving I ask again, I received the answer in my mind.

All sin is against the FATHER and those sins every human that has lived  has willingly engaged in were also willingly accepted by Jesus Christ as His sin and for those sins Jesus  received the penalty of death — Christ was put to death as just and legal payment for our sins against our Father.

Christ paid our debt to sin by His shed blood; Christ’s Blood spilled out on the earth beneath Him causes His death.
 

Thus some are now no longer “under” the penalty of death for their sins –

“that we, being dead to sins,’ –  that we, because Jesus Christ died, are accounted as already having been put to death as Christ died for us in our stead – thus we are no longer under the penalty for sin, no longer under the sentence of death for our transgressions against our Father.

The penalty of death for our sins has been paid: thus we are accounted as dead to sins-accounted as already having died because of our sins– because Christ died for us.

BUT: what about  “sinning” against our physical bodies ?

When a person smokes cigarettes, cancer can result plus many other diseases.

When a person eats unclean meats, consumes hundreds of pounds of sugar a year or is a glutton or takes drugs or any number of things humans do to their bodies: all manner of afflictions can and will result.  Are the hospitals full? Yep! Are they building more – you bet!

All illness, every type of sickness, disease and affliction is caused by sin: your own, your parents or by others passing on the results of their sins to you.

2  And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?

3  Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

The disciples understood sin is the cause of all manner of illness and physical problems common to man,

When we sin against our own bodies —  our bodies become damaged: simple cause and effect.

This is the thought that came, the “concept”, not these exact words.

By the “stripes” Jesus Christ received to HIS body – the body of Jesus Christ was “damaged” by the beating He received from the Roman soldiers – and by that “damage” Jesus Christ received as just and legal recompense for what each of one of us has or is now doing to our own bodies – we can be healed.

When we go to our Father and asked to be healed of cancer or even a common cold,  it is by the Stripes (damage) Christ received upon His own body that our bodily sins are paid –  to  and in His body — and we are healed.

By the beating and by His blood poured upon the earth all of our sins can be forgiven.    ALL of them!

 

1 Peter 2

24  Who his own self — bare our sins in his own body –on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: —  by whose stripes ye were healed.

 

Isaiah 53

5  But he [was] wounded (pierced) for our transgressions, [he was] bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; — and with his stripes we are healed.

The beating Christ received in our stead was foretold by Isaiah long ago.

God does heal today! That is a blessing my family has enjoyed for many decades.

James 5: 14, 15

14  Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, — anointing him with oil — in the name of the Lord:

15  And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

 

Mark 16: 18

18  They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

 

NIV 18  they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

Acts 19

11  And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:

12 So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.

When Paul could not personally anoint with oil and lay hands on the sick, he sent handkerchiefs.
