Lephinmore DCNN6063 – A demonstration of how the Met Office is insulting people’s intelligence.

Lephinmore is a tiny hamlet near the southern shores of the upper reaches of the Firth of Clyde. It is an extremely sparsely populated area with the only road being the single track B8000. For reasons only known to the Met Office cognoscenti, the site is deemed worthy of hosting 60 year climate averages for the area using a system that was originally deployed in 2004. An alternative view of this climate averaging system is that it is a work of complete fiction………and a very, very old one at that. So old, in fact, that it is an insult to the public’s intelligence and demonstrates a complete disregard for even the tiniest vestige of scientific credibility.

I am not going to supply a locator map for this particular weather station because, although I do have the WGS84 coordinates, there is nothing there to see and I do not propose to give any credence to this site whatsoever. The reason should become obvious from the following details.

Recorded temperature readings at Lephinmore started on 1st January 1959 so its inclusion in a climate averaging system that started on the 1st January 1961 is plausible. However, consider this below.

There have been no readings taken at Lephinmore since 15th February 1966. For the first 30 year period climate average period from 1961 to 1990 the site recorded data for just over 5 years, the remaining almost 25 years were fabricated and that has continued ever since. None of the 30 year rolling averages from 1970 0nwards include any primary data whatsoever…..100% fabrication.

In just 12 weeks from the date of this post, Lephinmore will have been deceased for SIXTY YEARS.

Now look at that headline image, one of those nearby other Climate averages sites is Largs which died on 1st September 1968, well at least that is only 57 years ago. Also included is Helensburgh No 2 which passed away 23 years ago. And then there is Bute:Rothesay and yes that is also deceased but I suppose 13 years ago is fairly recent. So it looks like the venerable Dunstaffnage weather station’s real world data is doing rather a lot of heavy lifting for the surrounding area.

Furthermore, as will be shown in my future report on the “Historic Station” of Dunstaffnage, this station seems to support the data for most of western Scotland with many more long dead and quite remote sites bizarrely beholden to its data.

To be as blunt as modern online freedom of speech regulations allow, to continue fabricating data for weather stations/sites many decades after closure is not science in any way, shape or form. It is simply playing silly little computer games. The Met Office can use all the weasel words and duplicitous explanations they like, most of the general public would consider this more the alchemy of chalatans if they were informed. As Chris Morrison has recently publicised in the Daily Sceptic, the Met Office are running scared and changing, amending, deleting, renaming online data like the guilty trying to cover their tracks. That they have the hubris to then call others “disinformers” is frankly risible.
