Linkenholt Post Office DCNN 5664 – Caught at Deep Square Leg?

When I reviewed the Coventry:Coundon site a number of people claimed I was simply highlighting one-off slightly freakish examples – I wasn’t. Met Office weather stations adopting fielding positions on cricket pitches are not as unusual as many may think….welcome to Linkenholt Post Office.
However, I have to say Linkenholt is a slightly “odd” place – in 2009 the entire “village” was up for sale for £29 Million (including the Weather Station) and was bought by Swedish £billionaire and H & M owner, Stefan Persson. The weather station makes a starring role at 46 seconds into this you tube clip.
So what of the quality of this unusual site? Well the Met Office standard is “Satisfactory” though, despite repeated asking, the Met Office has not supplied any exact definition of what that actually means with regard to site locations. The CIMO assessment is a poor Class 4 and it actually appears to be in a segregated area of back garden. The site is flat, clear of any significant shading and readings are taken extremely reliably with very few days missed per year. The site looks to be very well cared for by its custodians.
In conclusion, however you play with distance measurements, this unusual site is not actually as bad as its CIMO rating suggests and probably gives a good representation of the surrounding area. I certainly view this as a reasonably acceptable location providing it doesn’t get hit by too many cricket balls! Quirky certainly, but I feel this is a much more reputable site than say this allegedly better and risible classed CIMO 3 site below.
Which site would any reasonable person regard as most representative of the natural environment?
