Arctodictis enters the LRT without controversy close to Borhyaena

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

It had a skull like that of a big cat,
but Arctodictis (Fig 1) was not a big cat. It was a traditional member of Sparassodonta and Borhyaenidae, both within the carnivorous clade of creodonts within the Marsupialia in the LRT.

“The anatomy of Arctodictis sinclairi (Sprassodonta, Borhyaenidae) is studied in detail in this work.”

According to Wikipedia
“Borhyaenidae is an extinct metatherian family of low-slung, heavily built predatory mammals in the order Sparassodonta. Borhyaenids are not true marsupials, but members of a sister taxon, Sparassodonta. Like most metatherians, borhyaenids and other sparassodonts are thought to have had a pouch to carry their offspring around.”

In the LRT Early Cretaceous Vincelestes is a small basal member arising from Didelphis, the Virginia opossum and Chironectes, the water opossum. Derived members of this clade include recently extinct Thylacinus, the Tasmanian wolf, and related extant carnivorous small marsupial taxa.
